Losi Mini-B 1/16 RTR Brushless 2WD Buggy (Blue)
Let me start by saying that this is definitely a well built and designed kit. It comes with everything you need to get going right out of the box (including the AA batteries for the transmitter). It absolutely rips at 100% throttle but I usually keep mine between the 50% and 75% max throttle to make it more manageable around my local small and twisty indoor carpet track. Now, as much as I love this little car, I do have some major gripes with the electronics. They work absolutely fine so it's not a functionality issue, I'm less than pleased with the proprietary IC2 battery connector on the Spektrum motor. Its a sensored motor so it does not require a separate esc to save space which makes sense. But why they would use the IC2 Spektrum system is beyond me. This essentially locks you into their proprietary charger and battery system (much like Apple products). The charger that comes with the kit is an absolute joke, so as any normal person would do, they would try and hook their new battery up to their 200 dollar Protek charger that they've been using for everything else. Oh wait, your expensive charger won't charge IC2 batteries because of the proprietary design and functionality. So now you do a little google search and find a Spektrum G2 smart battery charger for 60 bucks, but wait, it only has connections for IC3 and IC5 battery connectors. So now you look up an adapter to go from IC3 device to IC2 battery and you find it, but for another 8 bucks. So now you're into this 250 dollar car for another 68 dollars (without tax) bringing up the grand total to 318 USD (again, without tax, so most likely more). For that price, you could have gotten the roller kit and built it up with some great electronics with normal battery connectors and balance leads. Anyways, I'm now waiting for the smallest hint of an issue with the electronics so I have an excuse to gut it and give it the equipment this kit deserves. Don't be like me, just get the roller if you want a brushless mini B. Thank you for listening to my Ted talk.
