Losi 1/16 Scale JRX2! Classic looks with Modern Performance.

The Losi JRX2 1/16 RTR 2WD Buggy is a scaled down version of first Losi race vehicle produced. The original JRX2 was developed over three years and featured a graphite chassis, rear motor design and 5-link suspension. Losi has faithfully scaled down this iconic buggy into 1/16 scale and allows you to experience old school style, handling and performance.

The Losi Mini JRX2 Buggy honors its roots by creating a mini buggy with a classic look and 21st-century performance. With a 5-link rear suspension providing maximum grip in loose conditions, aluminum shocks, and era-specific ribbed front tires, and 4 row step pin rear tires, you get more from a Mini than ever before. It features a rear motor configuration like the original and three different trim schemes that mimic the original box art schemes of the era, all in a total ready-to-run package. Everything about this buggy is designed to deliver a jaw-dropping experience.

Losi JRX2 1/16 RTR 2WD Buggy (Red)
As someone who is lucky enough to have a vintage JRX2, and who has fond memories of racing one when I was a kid in the 80s, this is a remarkably done miniature that really captures the driving experience of the original. Very faithful adaptation in most ways. The biggest change is in the transmission. Completely new design from the original, but looks the same from the outside (also comes with a slipper clutch where the original did not). Doesn’t detract at all though.

Two things about my mini model: 1) transmission was a bit rough out of the box. 2) the shocks were either very low on oil or had none. As someone who always loved wrenching on my cars and building them from scratch, this just gave me an excuse to rebuild the trans and shocks. Transmission needed a couple shims on the input shaft to correct some mild side-to-side slop that caused binding (and a cleanup of the excess globs of grease in the transmission housing) and it was all set. Shocks just needed a bit of oil and they were remarkably smooth and true to the feel of the originals.

Also, I am pretty impressed with the electronics this comes with. Servo is plenty fast for the steering and the motor has a nice amount of speed and oomph (certainly for the size).

This is a very fun model, especially for those nostalgic for the cars of their youth. I haven’t run my full size JRX2 for a very long time. Too expensive to replace parts if a break them. This is close enough and a blast to drive around. It’s also a great value as it includes absolutely everything you need to run it right out of the box. These things are why I’m giving it 5 stars. It would have been nice if QC would have been better, but everything was easily fixable for someone who’s used to wrenching on rc cars. If you’re not into that, the car is just fine (even with the small issues that my model had).

This is a wonderful reminder of being a kid racing rc cars again. I can finally drive like I did back then (instead of babying my vintage car). It’s nice to have that fun again! I say, get one and let ‘er rip. Have fun!

Losi JRX2 1/16 RTR 2WD Buggy (Red)
Good little rc car, I’ve always liked the vintage area and the fiberglass chassis. The body and paint is amazing and well detailed. However I don’t like how two of the shocks are leaking, and the other two barley have any oil in them. If the shocks were perfect, would have given 5 stars. Your Average persons who isn’t mechanically inclined would more than likely leave it as is and that causes poor performance. Poor performance equals bad times.
***update*** The more I drive this car the more I dislike it. Comparing to my other buggies and truggies of this size, it doesn’t handle as well or really perform. Looks cool for sure, but honestly will be just a shelf queen in its future.

Losi JRX2 1/16 RTR 2WD Buggy (Red)
I bought this buggy as a slower option for younger family members to have fun with. The 50-75-100 power setting on the TX helps a lot in that regard, as does the fact that it is a brushed motor. Generally the buggy seems well put together for the price. The one downside I've noticed is that on hard surfaces like concrete, the back wheels offer so little traction that the buggy fishtails pretty easily and is hard to control. So far, I haven't been able to find tires more suitable for hard surfaces. In the dirt it seems to handle well.
