The Hobbywing EZRun Max4 HV 1/5 Scale Sensored Brushless ESC is the most advanced high voltage ESC on the market. It’s dynamic functionality and 12S specifications meet the needs of power-hungry users. The Max4 HV offers a strong 300A continuous output power with excellent linearity at low speed and offers full-sensored mode operation when combined with a Hobbywing large scale sensored motor.

Features:
  • Extremely Powerful & Low Temperatures: The internal circuit board of the ESC has been integrated to use copper thermal conduction sink. These are built into high-reliability thermal systems to ensure proper thermal condition while supplying a continuous output current of 300A.
  • High Reliability & Durability: Max4 HV is the most durable (hardware) and advanced (software) ESC on the market. The ESC is built using the highest quality materials available, to withstand extreme weather and surface conditions. Together with the most advanced software developed by Hobbywing engineers, Hobbywing has created a variety of overload functions to protect the ESC from damage.
  • Applicable to All Weather Track Conditions: The IP-67 waterproof system guarantees excellent waterproofing and dustproofing protection. The whole power system is able to drive on a variety of surfaces including mud, sand, ice, snow and water without damaging the power unit.
  • Programming/Upgrading/Data Reading Wirelessly: Using Hobbywing's OTA module and smartphone (with the HOBBYWING HW Link App installed), the user can program parameters, upgrade firmware and relevant data of the ESC.
  • Real-Time Data & Data Logging: After connecting the OTA module (optional - not included), turn on real-time data recording function to access the operating status.
  • Capacitor Thermal Protection: Capacitor thermal protection will effectively prevent capacitors from exploding and causing irreversible damage to the ESC due to overload.
  • Superior Built-in BEC: The built-in BEC can support up to 25A maximum output current. The output voltage is switchable between 6V, 7.4V and 8.4V. This ensures that the ESC is able to support demanding high-torque servos.
  • Built-In Spark-Proof Design: The built-in spark-proof circuitry helps to prevent damage to the battery connectors, as well as physical injury that could be caused by strong electrical sparks when connecting a "high voltage" battery pack (6-12S).
  • Advanced & Secured Electronic Switch: The advanced and durable electronic switch features a longer lifespan compared to a standard switch. The dust, dirt, and waterproof switch housing ensures reliability, long life and eliminates unwanted damage. Heavy impact or harsh surfaces will not affect the switch.
  • Sensor Cable Interface: The MAX4 HV ESC is equipped with a proprietary sensor cable interface. It is high recommended to use the motors from Hobbywing as the waterproof protection level is at the highest level (IP67).

Hobbywing EZRun Max4 HV 1/5 Scale Sensored Brushless ESC
Love the esc lots of power and she’s a beast!! The one thing is that I didn’t get a sensor adapter in the box and it’s supposed to come with one. Maybe just a manufacture error.

Hobbywing EZRun Max4 HV 1/5 Scale Sensored Brushless ESC
Echoing the success of the Max6 & Max5, the Hobbywing Max4 delivers robust yet refined performance for any large scale electric surface RC. This ESC is a top pick for anyone converting a gas 1/5 or 1/4 scale into an electric powerhouse. Ideally, this ESC should be paired with a 12S capable 56-72mm diameter motor can with a kv range up to approximately 800kv. It can (and does) function very well with higher kv rated motors but this is not recommended*. Throttle acceleration is smooth all the way through full trigger range and temps are not an issue, even with aggressive driving of a 40+lb RC. The stock cooling fan is more than sufficient and additional fans are just not necessary. The sensor mode of this ESC can be used with other sensored motors with use of an adapter that fits the patent end of this ESCs sensor wire. Data logging is possible with the OTA blutooth module and is very basic but provides adequate data to work from. Overall, 5 Stars!

*For big can diameter motors over 1000kv, Max5 or Max6 might be better suited.

Hobbywing EZRun Max4 HV 1/5 Scale Sensored Brushless ESC
Excellent ESC so far, I am using it on a custom 1/5 large scale build. The standard multifunction programming device works on this ESC and you do not need the Xerun one. One thing to note is that at time of writing, a batch of these were shipped by Hobbywing without their motor sensor cables included in the package. Normally it would not be a big deal but since these use a proprietary connector this presents a bit of a problem.

AMain service is top notch, after a quick voice chat and verification, the rep had confirmed this was happening to some other owners and they sent out a replacement cable right away. Awesome job on AMain to make this right!

Hobbywing EZRun Max4 HV 1/5 Scale Sensored Brushless ESC
Finally built the 5ive-T 2.0 electric conversion that I’ve been wanting to for too long, mainly due to limited choices of electronics that support more than 8s. Now that HW joined the club, I’m using this Max 4 and their awesome and massive motor that they offer with it. Everyone that sees the truck take off for the first time is blown away by the power and how crazy a giant 40 pound truck is on 12s. Similar to my 1/8 truggies on 6s with 2250kv motors. Going full throttle at almost any speed violently spins all 4 tires. Stupidly overpowered and and easily dangerous for inexperienced drivers, but that means it’s perfect for me..:)
