Traxxas Sledge RTR Monster Truck - 6S Brushless Basher

The Traxxas Sledge RTR 6S 4WD Electric Monster Truck, is an all out basher designed to give you the power and performance for serious off-road fun. This monster truck features a rock solid chassis, massive steel drivetrain, 6S power system and race inspired handling. These features lead to a truck that is designed to push the limits of off-road bashing and look good in the process. Pick up the Traxxas Sledge and leave everything else in the dust.

Powering this monster truck is a Traxxas VXL-6S Velineon ESC and a 2000kV Brushless Motor. Traxxas then used massive steel gears, a triangulated chassis and a center T-bar brace to hold up to the 6S power. A special aluminum motor cradle is used to secure the motor in place eliminating motor  flex. The drive train features a torque-biasing center differential that distribute power evenly throughout the chassis. Solid steel axles are used front, center and rear to deliver the power to the wheels. The shock towers are 5mm thick and are tied directly to the center brace for further durability. Holding the truck up are large-bore GT-Maxx aluminum shocks mounted with 4mm hardware. Traxxas left no stone unturned and developed a truck that is ready for any terrain.

Traxxas Sledge RTR 6S 4WD Electric Monster Truck (Orange)
This is my 2nd RC (Traxxas) within 2 months. So I'm very new to the RC world and my review may be a little biased seeing as that I don't have any experience with other major brands. But before purchasing my 1st RC, this beauty was what I really wanted. I looked amazing. However, I was intimidated by dollar value and figured that as a newbie, I shouldn't start off with a base price car of $800. So I purchased a Rustler 4x4 VXL. About 2 months ago until now, I've purchase the Sledge over and then some. Not that the Rustler is a bad whip; I wanted to beef it up on my own. It's been reliable for the most part. However, I wasn't truly satisfied. After picking up the sledge and running it pretty hard for a 9 days since my purchase, I've come to realize and appreciate its design as well as function and capability.

Only 1 thing has broken since owning it and that is both of the lower outer rear suspension arm pins. The pins sheared off where the threading meeds the bolt. I've sent it 15-20 feet in the air (nothing major, I know) and accidentally landed directly on front right wheel, dug up a 3 inch hole in the ground and expected the H arms to break completely, or bend the chassis or shock tower, or ruin the servo. Nothing happened. There as been about 6 or 7 bad crashes from being careless and wanting to test out its durability and the only thing that's been broken are those 2 pins. Not bad considering you can pick up 2 pins front/rear for about $15 from M2C Racing that will likely not break ever.

Out of the box, and probably 8 battery packs through, my gear mesh didn't move at all. All screws that needed to locktite where already from factory and there was no budge. My center differential was filled with 20M fluid as it should be. I cannot speak on front/rear from factory, but I briefly looked at them without taking the ring gear off and I'm sure they're fine (will find out when M2C racing parts come (not because it needs it, but because I want them)). No issues with losing the dog bone rear driveshafts now as Traxxas has installed the rubber space in the rear drive cups now.

Honestly, after reading and watching all the reviews from everyone, I was quite skeptical. But my skepticism was quickly laid to rest after my 3rd bash where I was hitting it hard and sending it 15+ feet high and 70+ feet displacement with may be 50-60% throttle. So the ESC and motor with stock gearing seems just fine out of the box.

Overall, I'm very happy. I know what I've done to the truck and again, cross-referencing what I've read and seen from other YouTubers about 'what would happen', I'm very surprised how durable this thing is. Don't let anyone tell you different. But then again, my review might be a little biased.

Hope that helps, and blessings to you all.

I love my sledge and everything about it. Except maybe the price but this thing was built so strong that you are not going to be constantly breaking things. It's also very powerful. This thing is an animal.

Love the Sledge. Have only run it once so far but am really enjoying it. And the Customer Service at AMain is amazing!!! The car came sooner than expected and we were out of town. Talked With Steven at AMain and he was very nice and helpful and confirmed the car would be re-delivered by FedEx when we got home.
