This is the Traxxas Complete Center Differential Kit and is intended for use with the Traxxas Slash 4x4. This pre-built center differential will give you the competitive edge! The optional center differential transfers power to the front and rear differentials independently for maximum corner speed and smooth power delivery in rough track conditions. The differential is sealed and can be tuned for specific driving conditions by filling the differential with silicone fluids of different viscosities. The center differential comes fully assembled and pre-filled, and the modular design of the Slash 4x4 allows you to install the differential in a matter of minutes making this a must have tuning option for the Slash 4x4.

This center diff really improves cornering and handling in general. However, it cannot withstand stress. I'm running a Novak 550 motor on 2S and the diff housing broke at the neck after about 30 minutes total runtime. The neck is VERY thin and is a weakness in the design, IMO. Maybe Robinson Racing will make a durable one? I really like the performance but wish it would last.

I moved away from the slipper clutch setup that comes box-stock with Slash 4x4s. As an offroad surface racer who competes on enormous tracks, I couldn't be happier with the decision - at least for now (reviews are updated fastidiously). I can't get enough! As my skills improve as a driver, so does my ability to manage problems that arise from the harsh driving conditions known in the racing arena, as well as how to fine-tune my different classes of machines to gain the competitive "edge." If nothing else, it acts as a placebo for that moment I'm standing in the drivers' booth anxiously awaiting the sound of the tone. All of this is the nature of the offroad racing world, not to mention it's notorious for being really hard on our cars/trucks.

Nevertheless, I'm not going to quit tuning and racing my Slash 4x4s anytime soon. Now that I'm a more competitive driver I find that there's an advantage to having this Pre-Built Center Diff. installed. Combine that with the Hot Racing steel spur gear, Part # HRASSLF254D, and I believe it gives the non-novice driver an edge on the track. It improves handling and dissipates response time between braking and acceleration and it's VERY noticeable from the moment you install it and take it for a test run. It distributes power between the front and rear of the Slash in a much different way so that coming out of tight hairpin turns only to set up for a HUGE double-double or gaping triple becomes easier to manage. This also depends on a driver's chosen gearing ratios, I.e., the pinion and so forth, but overall I'm impressed with the performance of this addition.

THIS IS IMPORTANT: the "roll" factor seems to have dissipated while running full out during practice and races. Please note that I removed the Velineon ESC/Motor combo and installed a Hobbywing EZRun MAX10 SCT Sensorless Brushless ESC/3660SL Motor Combo on both my race-ready rigs, this way I'm not breaking the rules of club racing. That means I haven't been using the TSM anymore, and honestly, I believe it's WAY better. Again, I think if y'all make these upgrades it's going to put smiles on your faces.

I have this on my Slash 4x4 LCG with a Hot Racing aluminum differential case and have had NO problems with 3cell Maxamps batteries. It is faster and way less slip even after tightening my slipper as tight as I could before breaking. I have nothing but the best experience with the center differential.
