This is a set of eight optional big bore shocks from Traxxas. Shock bodies, and shock caps are made of hard anodized, Teflon coated T6 aluminum. The shock shafts are Titanium Nitride coated for smooth operation, and durability. These shocks are fully assembled with red (medium tension) shock springs. Set also includes two bottles of Traxxas 30 weight shock oil.

Note: Shocks must be filled with shock oil before installation.

Traxxas Big Bores are, in my experience, nearly impossible to beat for price and durability.

I wanted to add a quick note for anyone wondering if these will work on the AX10. They do, very well.

They are a good compromise between the stock height and a droop. Pretty much splits the difference if you don't want to deal with belly drag by going to a droop setup.

This is what I did. Maybe it'll save you a little time or overlooking a part you may need to do it.

I used the 4962 shocks, I run them inverted so the shock body is down. Since 4962 uses a delrin 2-stage insert on the top eyelet to mount to Traxxas shock towers, you'll need something to serve as a ball for the top mount of the shock (you can't use a ball inside the aluminum hole on the shock cap). I used AX30450 (flange pipes) in the eyelets and they work great. Give just enough wiggle room to keep any binding against the shock top, but aren't sloppy.

Axial 14x70mm springs fit these shocks perfectly. In fact, they fit these shocks better than the actual Traxxas springs that come with them. The springs that come with these 4962 shocks are also 70 mm long. The ID of the Axial springs is a touch smaller and is more secure around the shock body.

I used the Traxxas shock spring endcaps (both ends) that come with the 4962.

I always use Traxxas steel balls for whatever RC I'm building - from 1942, 2742, or 2742x. They're all the same balls. And they pop into Axial or Traxxas rod ends perfectly.

For what it's worth, if you want your AX10 lower, but don't want to go to a full droop, this is, in my opinion, about as good of a way as any to accomplish that end.

Plus, if you buy these, you get 8 shocks. You need only four and can sell the other four and wind up with great aluminum shocks, a little over a 2cm drop in ride height, and the cost is tough to beat for the mod.

Mine came with 2-hole piston heads so I don't know if that's what they all come with, but for my setup, the 2-hole with 30-weight oil works just about perfectly.
