RadioMaster MT12 4-in-1 16-Channel 2.4GHz Radio System w/R85C Receiver
This radio is AMAZING!!

I initially pre-ordered the 4-in-1 version on Amain, but it was in stock on AliExpress, so I bought it there.

I received it a few days ago and I’m very impressed. It’s quite possibly the most advanced radio under $400 I’ve ever seen or heard of.

It runs EdgeTX (or OpenTX) and it has up to 32 channels (with expander module). It also supports (4-in-1 version) most manufacturers’ receivers and standards like STDHSS and D8/16. The module is updatable, so more models will probably be supported soon (like the Traxxas TQi is a work in progress)

The best part is the expandability and all that hardware! It has so many customizable buttons, pots, trims, 3-way switches, you name it. It comes pre installed with a 512MB (yes, MB) memory card and that stores about 60 models in memory. I’m assuming that if you put in a larger card you can get toward of 100 models stored in this radio. Each model can have different settings (e.g, switch actions, RGB lighting, curves) or you can make a function global. It also supports really advanced programming such as curves, graphs, trigger trims, LUA scripts, sound effects, dual/expo rates, etc.

The hardware itself is pretty nice. It’s not Futaba, but it does have Hall effect sensors and adjustable tensions and whatnot. It looks cheaper online than it does in person. It’s a bit on the heavy side though due to the screen and hardware. The wheel and trigger sensors are incredibly smooth and fluid, unlike many RTR radios that use potentiometers and springs.

I only have a couple issues. One, the standard RadioMaster receivers DO NOT seem to have good range. Maybe I set something up wrong, but I’ll experiment soon with a FlySky receiver and update this review later. Another gripe I have is that it’s about 3x heavier than the Traxxas TQi radio. It’s pretty solid. Another issue was that the plug over the AUX port was triggering the audio to turn off, thinking a jack was plugged in. I cut the AUX plug cover plug off and no issues! :)

##UPDATE##
I tested the radio with a FlySky 3ch receiver and the range is A+! I recommend the radio, but not the standard RadioMaster receivers.

##UPDATE #2
I now use the FlySky IA lineup. They perform incredibly well and I’ve set up telemetry screens that show speed, voltage, etc. All channels also seem to work perfectly well. The battery life on the radio is very good as well….probably two or three weeks with daily use.

##UPDATE #3
I have been using this radio with my 8CH TRX-4 with rear steer, TT02 drift car, Traxxas Maxx, and a E-Revo VXL (all equipped with FlySky receivers and telemetry sensors. It works amazingly and has survived multiple ~3ft drops on concrete and light rain.

##UPDATE #4
It now appears that RadioMaster is now selling replacement parts on their website for extremely cheap! You can get mainboards, screens, steering wheels, replacement buttons, etc.

##UPDATE #5
I’ve taken the time to become more of a power user. Now I have launch control (special throttle delay and expo upon a button press to prevent wheelies) and even voice feedback and haptics. It even logs my runs for review at a computer! I could not be happier. And for only about $150, it’s a deal you don’t want to miss.

RadioMaster MT12 4-in-1 16-Channel 2.4GHz Radio System w/R85C Receiver
You get a whole lot of radio for the price. It may not be a walk in the park to setup every feature you want but the features are there. And there’s videos out there to walk you through a lot of custom settings. Not to mention the fact that this version can bind too many other brands.
