The ProTek RC Servo Lead & Terminal Crimping Tool is the tool you need to make custom length signal wires for your ESCs, receiver batteries and servos. This tool safely secures the connector pins on wire sizes between 14 and 28awg, without damaging the pin or the wire. Simply strip a short length of the shielding off the wires, install the connector pin into the tool, insert the wire into the pin, and squeeze the tool to crimp the pin in place.

NOTE: When changing the length of your signal wires or receiver battery connectors, for the best results we recommend you use new connectors.

ProTek RC Servo Lead & Terminal Crimping Tool
TL;DR: Decent tool, but the instructions aren't helpful at all.

The instructions on the back of the box are essentially useless. I had to search online to find a decent how-to video. (See below). Also the instructions seem to say that the crimp tightness is adjustable via the +/- dial on one side of the pliers. I still haven't figured out how to move that dial and actually adjust the crimp.

Suggestion #1: Watch this video FIRST! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyJAFQQf9fo. I was pretty frustrated with this tool and about to give up until I did a little Google'ing and found the aforementioned video. After following the video's instructions, looking closely at the tool, and noticing the staggering of the socket I was able to finally get a nice good crimp without damaging the wire or leads.

Suggestion #2: PRACTICE BEFORE DAMAGING YOUR SERVO'S WIRING! Buy some spare servo wire, several extra sets of leads and practice, practice, practice.

ProTek RC Servo Lead & Terminal Crimping Tool
These are the stuff! I bought some from my local hobby shop and they worked perfect. I had the old protek crimpers and they were terrible- these are a much better improvement. I used the closest slot to the handle to crimp my connectors. I also found the tension from the factory a little tight, so I loosened slightly and it was perfect. Don't hesitate to buy, works perfectly.

ProTek RC Servo Lead & Terminal Crimping Tool
Not to happy about receiving one that was open and damaged packaging. But it seems to be ok. This and shipping irregularities seem to be the the new norm when ordering from Amain.

ProTek RC Servo Lead & Terminal Crimping Tool
Other than the worthless Chinese written instructions, the rebranded crimper's are decent.

ProTek RC Servo Lead & Terminal Crimping Tool
Working with these tiny wires and connectors is just a bit fiddly no matter how you look at it. This crimping tool is nice, well made, and does what is asked of it. The user can mess it all up, yes, but it's not the tool's fault. My feeling is that this tool could be 1/2 the size considering how delicate the connectors it is crimping are... not really a minus but would make it easier to have in the pit box.

ProTek RC Servo Lead & Terminal Crimping Tool
Excellent tool, very easy to use. I've already used it to shorten the length on all my servo wires and clean up the inside of my rc cars.

ProTek RC Servo Lead & Terminal Crimping Tool
As a newbie, I had to try out all of the gadgets that I could get my hands on including servos, lights, fans and virtually everything that would fit on the chassis. Needless to say, I had a rats nest of wire in short order. After hand crimping (smashing with needle nose pliers) about a dozen connectors and frying some electronics due to shorts, I broke down and bought this tool.

Cutting out about 36" of extra wire and creating custom jumpers wires REALLY made everything look pro. Agreed with the comments about the directions, you need to practice on a few before committing to cutting length out of factory wires. You can't go wrong here if you are working with 2 or 3 wire JST plugs.
