ProTek RC 170TBL Black Label High Torque Brushless Servo.
Brushless servo technology has improved by leaps and bounds. Finally, brushless servos can deliver holding power, speed and precision that can compete with a coreless servo. Combine that with the superior efficiency and lifespan of a brushless motor and you have a servo that hits all the marks, with the performance and quality required for a pro level build.
A black anodized aluminum case with aluminum and white accents give this servo a stealthy look that sets it apart from the rest. The aluminum upper case provides bomb proof durability and the heat sink center case offers efficient heat dissipation and helps to reduce weight. The lead wire is detachable, allowing you to easily custom tailor the servo lead to your application, and the package includes both 135mm and 285mm length servo leads. Plus, a full selection of servo arms and mounting hardware are included making installation easy.
NOTE: If you experience glitching or poor performance while using a Futaba transmitter, you must turn off BLS mode. BLS mode is only compatible with Futaba BLS type servos.

These servos are seriously a great choice for 1/8 buggy / truggy nitro or electric , They are quiet as can be and hold up in extreme conditions 120° + Temps , And with A main having your back no matter what you can't go wrong , With other name brand servos if you have any issues with them you have to wait for a replacement , Not with a main tho . Point is if you run a nitro buggy or truggy it's a great/probably the best servo to go with Imo . I give it a 5 star rating outa 5 stars .

I have run the ProTek 170TBL (PTK-170TBL) and 170SBL (PTK-170SBL) in my 1/8th scale off-road vehicles for the last 4 years. I run the 170SBL in my nitro (for both steering and throttle/brake) and electric buggies. I run the 170TBL for steering on my e-truggy, and the 170SBL for throttle/brake and the 170TBL for steering in my nitro truggy.
I try to drive reasonably smoothly, but do still put my cars (and thus the servos) through some tough crashes. These servos are amazingly robust. Bullet proof. I have yet to have to replace a single servo due to breakage or even wear-and-tear. Compare this to 10 years ago when I was replacing servos in my 8th scale vehicles on a bi-weekly basis.
In terms of performance the 170SBL is plenty fast (I sometimes need to dial down the response time on my radio for steering), and is very strong and torquey. I could probably also use it for steering on my truggies tbh, but have opted for the 170TBL just to be safe. The 170TBL provides tons of torque, and is also very responsive/speedy.
This is one of those products, along with Hobbywing ESC and motors, that have made 8th scale off-road so much more fun. I honestly can't recommend this product anymore highly. It is worth every penny of its cost.

This is an AMAZING servo!!!! I dropped it straight in my traxxas sledge, and it fit like butter!!! If you’re looking for a servo for your sledge this is it. Look no further. It’s super fast and has TONS OF TORQUE!! The shipping, as always, is super fast as well. Don’t settle for the stock servo, when you install this one it changes the entire car and makes it what it should have been to start with.

Awesome servo got it on sale and threw it in a Xmaxx with a GPM standard servo adapter throws around the tires effortlessly. For anyone interested there was one thing that I had to do the standard servo adapter needed to be trimmed where the servo wire ends up. The wire clears it no problem the problem is it slightly off centers the servo because the port the servo wire harness that plugs into the servo has a lip that keeps it from centering so better to shave the adapter than the servo.

Truly a great servo. I've only run it for 5 or 6 track sessions so far, but it has been rock solid. Super strong and fast. I used to race (club) Nitro 1/8 buggies 10 years ago and ran nothing but top o' the line Hitecs (These are still working great BTW!). Haven't run the newer Hitecs yet, but I can't imagine them being much better than this ProTek servo! These are pretty dang cost effective for their performance. Time will tell the ultimate story (My 10-14yo Hitecs are still going strong), but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these to anyone.
