The Mugen MBX8TE 1/8 Off-Road 4WD Competition Electric Truggy Kit includes many high-end improvements that provide increased durability, acceleration, suspension, steering, and traction to create the ultimate 1/8th electric off-road truck kit.

Features:
  • Chassis: The MBX8T chassis has been redesigned for improved steering and more consistency in bumpy conditions.
  • Differential and drivetrain: High Traction Differentials are included in the MBX8T. The Mugen Seiki HTD provides increased acceleration, longer runtime, and more consistent handling. The HTD's also increase stability, traction and improve handling in bumpy conditions. The HTD has a larger volume diff cup to increase consistency during long main events. This makes it easier to time rhythm sections, better in bumpy and low grip conditions, helps to increase traction, and increases fuel mileage.
  • Straight cut 10T bevel gear and 46T conical gear: The straight cut bevel and conical gears increase acceleration, runtime, and efficiency. A free and efficient drivetrain will also increase speeds while cornering.
  • Front and rear gearbox: The redesigned gearbox allows you to remove and service the differentials without detaching the suspension arm mounts.
  • Suspension: The FF/FR/RF/RR suspension mounts have been redesigned for the MBX8T.
  • Box-shaped suspension arms and arm stiffeners: The redesigned front and rear lower arms use an impact resistant material for increased durability. The arms are box-shaped and include arm stiffeners to reduce flex and increase durability. Adjusting the hardness of the lower suspension arms is now possible. This allows you to fine tune the steering and traction from track to track. CFRP plates will be released as an option part. The MBX8T uses longer suspension arms to increase traction and stability.
  • Center differential mount & plate: The center differential mounts use a stiffer material and a redesigned top plate to reduce chassis flex and increases clutch bell, spur gear, and clutch bearing life. The reduced chassis flex also provides more consistent handling in all conditions. The top plate design also makes it easier to adjust the brakes and easier maintenance.
  • Lightweight one-piece wing mount: The lightweight one-piece wing mount lower the center of gravity. The position of the wing and wing mount is optimized to improve the performance of vehicle. The height of the wing mount is adjustable. This allows you to control the down force on the rear of the vehicle by simply raising or lowering the mount on the shock tower.
  • Lightweight high down-force wing: The IFMAR legal wing is lightweight and provides amazing down force and corning. The underside of the wing uses a new design to reduced weight and creates additional down-force.
  • Enclosed Battery box and updated carbon fiber radio plate: The MBX8T still uses a flat 2S lipo or Life battery, but the receiver battery is now enclosed in a molded battery box. The battery box allows for quick and easy access to the battery. The molded box also helps protect the battery from hard impacts. The battery box is mounted to an updated carbon fiber radio plate.
  • Other redesigned parts and upgrades: Body, Clamping Servo Saver Nut, F/R Shock Towers, Front bumper, Front center and rear center universal joint.

Mugen Seiki MBX8TE 1/8 Off-Road 4WD Competition Electric Truggy Kit
I've now owned 3 different brands of truggies - Losi 2.0T, Tekno ET48.3, and now the Mugen MBX8Te. Build wise - this is the best kit I've had thus far quality wise, and engineering. Here's my experiences that I noted during the build with the specific intention of sharing it on here:

Right out of bag A, the spider gears appeared to be high quality metal. I had recently assembled x2 ET48.3's for my boys so I was able to do a direct comparison. They spun nicely on the cross-pins as they should and sat nicely inside of the diff housing. This is important to note because the spider gears on my Tekno's (both of them) were binding and every single one required manufacturer intervention, so it was nice to see great quality from the Mugen kit right out of the box. I dropped the housing assembly into their respective rear/front end assemblies shimming gear side with x2 and they appear to be nice and tight, free moving.

The pillow balls had me scratching my head a few minutes. I've only dealt with C-hubs, so this was a new one to me. I went on YouTube to watch Adam Drake assemble the pillow balls - highly recommend. He'll show you how it goes together and will provide a couple of tips to keep yourself from cross threading the cap.

Another thing I really liked was the linkage for the rear upright and the servo. Often, manuals fail to clearly display the orientation of each end cap and direction of inserts. It can lead to a guessing game, but the manual for this truck is really clear in their illustrations. Hence, ANOTHER thing I liked about this build - less talk, more show. I'd rather follow a blue print then read all these little "notes" and stuff on each page (Tekno and a couple others do that). I find it's less likely to miss something looking at illustrations than reading notes.

The center spur gear is well protected by the top cover which should fight off all those nasty little pebbles that can really jam up your day. It seems there is great protection all around the truck - side chassis guards & rear mud guards being a couple more of them... There's even great wire routing! Before installing your battery tray, make sure to snake that ESC wire through it (on the bottom) crossing over to a specifically designed passage under the center spur assembly to the radio box. The receiver box has a round rubber doughnut which you install in a designed opening. Your wires will pass through this doughnut. Yes, the connectors will get through, just work at it. Once done, install the receiver cover and you're stuff is nice and protected!

I wasn't a huge fan of having separate pages for the "E" version. They were "ok", but it would be nice to have a dedicated manual for the MBX8Te & MBX8T. I get it's much cheaper for Mugen to do it this way though. Not bad enough to take away from the rating by any means... just pay attention when it's time to transition to, and from the electric specific instructions.

There's plenty of room, nice wide profile, able to cleanly wire, everything seems pretty high quality and well thought out. So far, of all 3 Truggies I've owned, this one deserves the highest props on build and out of the box noticeable quality. If she drives as nicely as she builds, I'll be coming to Mugen for my buggy as well.

Mugen Seiki MBX8TE 1/8 Off-Road 4WD Competition Electric Truggy Kit
I bought this truggy at my local hobby store just to support the shop business and after the build...in some way I felt 730.00 is a bit steep but a reasonable price should be at least 600 to 650 maybe 675 at the most. But anyways the truggy is awesome. I ran it thru 2 race days and making small changes like the rear diff fluid from 7 to 5k and it helped. I got a new truggy motor and see what happens next week. I really recommend this truggy for anyone that wants a truggy.
