MBX8 "Worlds Edition" - Including the Accessories used by the Mugen Factory Team

Mugen Seiki is excited to release the MBX8 Worlds Edition Nitro Buggy Kit, including many option parts used by Mugen Seiki drivers at the 2018 IFMAR World Championship. Mugen Seiki had four MBX8’s in the 60 Minute final with Ryan Maifield finishing on the podium!

Included Worlds Edition Option Parts:

  • MUGE0240: Wide Offset Wheel Hubs 1mm 2pcs; The 1mm wide offset wheel hubs will increase stability and cornering. 
  • MUGE2146: Inline Front Uprights; The E2146 inline front uprights have smoother steering compared to the stock E2147 trailing front uprights and work great in high traction conditions. E2146 uprights can be used with both CVA and universal style driveshafts.
  • MUGE2168: -3mm Front Upright Arm; The -3mm front upright arm improves the initial steering response and make the vehicle more stable through the middle and exit of the corner..  The new upright arms also reduce bump steer and make the vehicle more predictable in bumpy conditions.
  • MUGE2235: 46T Spur Gear; The 46 tooth HTD spur gear provides a great balance of acceleration and top-end speed.   
  • MUGE2252: 12T Pinion Gear
  • MUGE2254: 42T Conical Gear; The optional 12T bevel gear when used with the 42T conical gear will change the final drive ratio and increase acceleration. 
  • MUGE2260: Center Joint Cup.
  • MUGE2261: Center Front Dog Bone (84.5mm)
  • MUGE2262: Center Rear Dog Bone (115mm); The front and rear-center dogbones for the MBX8 reduce friction from the stock universal driveshafts. Less friction will give the vehicle a more efficient drivetrain, increase acceleration, and provide more traction. The dog bones are lightweight, durable, and will increase traction. 
  • MUGE2428: Rear Wing Stay +15mm; The +15mm wing mount has more adjustment and will help increase mid corner rotation and be more stable in high speed conditions.

Standard MBX8 Features:

  • Chassis: The MBX8 chassis features an updated material that is more rigid and durable. The chassis improves steering and is more consistent in bumpy conditions.
  • Differential and drivetrain: High Traction Differentials are included in the MBX8. The Mugen Seiki HTD provides increased acceleration, longer runtime, and more consistent handling. The HTD’s also increase stability, traction and improve handling in bumpy conditions. The HTD has a larger volume diff cup to increase consistency during long main events. This makes it easier to time rhythm sections, better in bumpy and low grip conditions, helps to increase traction, and increases fuel mileage. 
  • Updated straight cut 13T bevel gear & 44T conical gear: The straight cut bevel and conical gears increase acceleration, runtime, and efficiency. A free and efficient drivetrain will also increase speeds while cornering. 
  • Lightweight one-piece wing mount: The updated lightweight one-piece wing mount lower the center of gravity. The position of the wing and wing mount is optimized to improve the performance of vehicle. The height of the wing mount is adjustable. This allows you to control the down force on the rear of the vehicle by simply raising or lowering the mount on the shock tower. 
  • Lightweight high down-force wing: The updated IFMAR legal wing is lightweight and provides amazing down force and corning. The underside of the wing uses an updated design to reduced weight and creates additional down-force.
  • Suspension: The Front Front/Front Rear and Rear Front/Rear Rear suspension blocks have been redesigned for the MBX8.
  • Front and rear gearbox: Easier access to the front and rear differential. The updated gearbox allows you to remove and service the differentials without detaching the suspension arm mounts.  
  • Box-shaped suspension arms and arm stiffeners: The front and rear lower arms use an updated impact resistant material for increased durability. The redesigned arms are box-shaped and include arm stiffeners to reduce flex and increase durability. Adjusting the hardness of the lower suspension arms is now possible. This allows you to fine tune the steering and traction from track to track. CFRP plates will be available as an option part (not included).
  • Center differential mount & plate: The center differential mounts use a stiffer material and a redesigned top plate to reduce chassis flex and increases clutch bell, spur gear, and clutch bearing life. The reduced chassis flex also provides more consistent handling in all conditions. The top plate design also makes it easier to adjust the brakes and easier maintenance.
  • Enclosed Battery box and updated carbon fiber radio plate: The MBX8 still uses a flat 2S LiPo or LiFe receiver battery, but the battery is now enclosed in a molded battery box. The battery box allows for quick and easy access to the battery. The molded box also helps protect the battery from hard impacts. The battery box is mounted to an updated carbon fiber radio plate.
  • Other Updated parts and upgrades: Body, Clamping Servo Saver Nut, Front/Rear Shock Towers, Front bumper, Front center and rear center universal joint.

Mugen Seiki MBX8 "Worlds Edition" 1/8 Off-Road Competition Nitro Buggy Kit
I am a bit biased, but I love my Mugen MBX's. This is my seventh starting off from the MBX-4 years ago. The kit has all the goodies you need saving some money on the hop-ups normally you would buy. Everything assembles soon and the refinements over the years show. I paired this build with an Adam Drake OS Speed 21 and two Futaba BLS servo's to command steering and throttle. Drivetrain is butter smooth and I only expect it to get better. Plenty of good setup sheet info from Drake and Maifield get you 90% there for a competitive setup. If I were pressed to nitpick the design I would have preferred a more robust lid on the battery box and longer M3 screws to secure the parts like the radio tray mounts. The short screws and lack of thread depth tend to strip over time with repeated rebuilds. The air filter is decent, but the Losi offset filter fits and looks better. I am also not a huge fan of the position of the fuel outlet nipple from the tank pointing straight into the body near the exhaust mount. A tight bend in the fuel line is required to avoid hitting the body. Other than those small things which can all easily be accommodated this car is bad @$%.

haven't tried it yet but my mbx5 prospec with an rb c5 onroad motor ran snappy fast I'm sure this one will do just fine. i'll be ordering an o.s. inroad from you guys soon, i'm just a recreational racer.

this build stared out bad it was missing from all 3 diff the two big washers that goes inside them diff . i have two MBX7R an they came with everything .very very disappointed. other then that everything went together well ,one thing the paint on the shocks was almost peeling off about 30% of the paint was off ALL 4 shocks. not good mugen if i had gotten this kit for 100$ i would thank those flaws not a 700$ plus kit . now i have to see where i can find new shocks an 6 washers for the diffs .

1 model keeps going straight on; at the exit of the turn, the problem is always to go straight.
2 eternal sores of these models starting from the 6th series of models, the differential gear case breaks down, we buy spare parts every stage.
3 marketing company pulling your money out of your pockets!
4 prices for parts are huge, especially for bearings.
5 raised the price by $ 150 and for what? a little bit did everything like that of HB racing.
Extremely dissatisfied with the model!
