LRP High Power Soldering Station
Bought this to replace a Hakko that bit the dust, I was very excited to have a digital unit from LRP. In comparison, I have to admit that I still think the Hakko maintains heat while soldering thick wire/battery packs, but performance is very comparable. The LRP's performance does not exceed the Hakko. Unfortunately, I never could get the LRP to shut off automatically, despite the magnet sensor in the holder, and programming menu. One evening I left it on overnight, and in the morning an error code was displayed on the unit. Manual indicated that with that particular code, a new heating element was needed. After another 90 bucks to replace it, I found out that wasn't the problem. So $300 invested and lost. Could have bought 3 Hakko units for that price. In the end, this ended up in a box, and was replaced with a Hakko 936 which will likely last another 8 years. The LRP didn't last me 3 months. Great iron, features and look...questionable reliability.

LRP High Power Soldering Station
This thing is amazing. Do not hesitate to get it. I have been racing for 30 years, and this is the best station I have ever owned. Been soldering since. Heats up amazingly fast - almost instant! Then when you put it in the holder turns the temp back down so not to damage the tip.

Wish i had bought it years ago.

It is by far the best .i would buy again. That's a joke I've had mine for 8 years with absolutely no problems. Just replace the tip once in a while

LRP High Power Soldering Station
Heats up very fast and spare the tips by lowering the temperature when the handle is placed in the holder (I configured 60 Celcius and it reheats in just a couple of seconds). Perfect for all types of soldering. I use mine for micro electronics as well.

You can buy a lot of different tips from SMTmax: http://www.smtmax.com/detail.php?id=116 (QK202D). With all those tips to choose from, the soldering station gets even better!

LRP High Power Soldering Station
I bought this over a year ago. It works very well and heats up fast.
I didn't like the rubber feet besides that it's a great soldering station and worth the money.
