I switched over to this gear diff, and all I can add is that it is a must. Ball diffs work great on touring cars wherein they rarely see impact loads like that of an offroad vehicle. In fact, the ball diff was invented for touring cars. Anyhow the gear diff is nearly bullet proof, and it does NOT slip. Hoping someone out their updates the components to lighter materials since it is considerably a bit heavier than the ball diff - whether this is good or bad - it depends
Works great...Filled with 5K and it rips...Great turn in and of lots of forward bite with my set-up and track conditions. I replaced the stock o-rings with Kyosho P5 o-rings and hasn't leaked.
Full on recommend as i love how easy a gear diff is over ball diff in terms of maintenance.
Great Diff.
I have a TLR 22 SCT 2.0 and the Ball diff in my option was the only weak point in the whole truck.
The gear diff with Kyosho seals and filled up with 1k oil runs amazing on my local track which is dry and dusty, my lap times have improved by 1.5 seconds, and have loads more traction and grip coming into jumps by eliminating pain in the butt ball diff slip.
A+ highly recommend this for any SCT driver
I bought this, put it in my losi 22, rode it twice, it leaked, i opened it and all oil was already gone..... very poorly manufactured, seals leak hard... My brother bought one too, same story...
Gonna try fixing it with other o-rings or something. Shouldn't be happening tho for a new diff set :/
We have been using these diffs on outdoor tracks for some time now. We own at least 10 or more. Regular maintenance is a must, but have had no issues with them at all. Fill with 7000-10,000 weight diff oil and you will have a diff that will last all weekend on a loose sandy track.
Durable replacement for the ball diff in Losi 22 SCT. Plenty of use on it, has leaked like many others have noted. Bought the Kyosho o rings and its good to go. Will buy for my 22 buggy next
Thanks For the tip for the Kyosho O-Rings, Since I got my Diff it has been leaking and I have been re-filling it up every few meetings & Last weekend I did my bevel gears(I think from a strange sound) when I was about to race in a final leg from a Annual event last weekend!
In the end its been a good diff from day one I got it!!
Thanks for the tip on the Kyosho o'rings. When i received mine it had leaked a lot of its fluid into the packet! Pretty poor really though the change of o'rings has it leak free. It would be nice if they amended the issue but not to worry i think ill be purchasing a Yokomo YZ-2 soon enough anyways.
as the last guy said there is a leaking problem but drop in kyosho oring
and these things are low maintainance they are really
foolproof and work great once i changed oring i have not so much as even looked at the diff since dec last year today is april 2014 5 months without so much as a brush off and still works with awesome results
i would have burned out at least 2 maybe 3 ball diff rebuilds in that span
