This is the Kyosho MA-03EVO Mini-Z N-MM2 Brushless Chassis Set, equipped with a 8500kV Brushless motor. The current MINI-Z has a built in receiver, servo and ESC in one controlled PCB unit. But this MR-03EVO Chassis Set has a separate receiver unit. By purchasing and installing an optional receiver unit depending on your preferred transmitter, it allows for using a Kyosho (KT-18/EX-6/EX-6R/KT-531P/KT-432PT), KO Propo (EX-2/EX-RR) or Futaba (T7PX/T7XC) transmitters. It will also be available for use with Sanwa transmitters in the future.

By installing an updated CPU which controls servo function only, it improves the internal feedback of positioning control which is 11.2 times faster than the existing VE PRO models. The control program provides the best ever steering feeling in MINI-Z history. The ESC has also improved the response speed to a maximum of 100 times faster than existing VE PRO models.

The included Kyosho SPEED HOUSE XSPEED 56 (5600KV) brushless motor features a one-piece aluminum case that provides efficient heat dissipation for superior cooling. Unlike previous chassis sets, you can change to the brushed motor mode though the I.C.S manager to install an optional brushed motor. The I.C.S manager also allows more precise setting adjustments to be made. First MINI-Z MR-03 Chassis Set that adopts separate ESC and receiver design.

Awesome little car. Its louder than the mr03 and a little more difficult to keep in control. Its still a blast to zoom around the house with. I installed the dws suspension and wide rear suspension arms in the back as well as making the front tread wide. All of these great options come included in the kit. One of the pieces in the instructions for the dws conversion was in a different bag, adding a bit of confusion to the install. Making it wider makes it more stable and the car spins out less on full throttle. Im still having issues with the car fish-tailing into a 180 at high speeds when attempting a turn. It happens less with a lot of practice. The mr03 beats the awd in this aspect since it corners a lot better. Ive never looked at the mini-z until the evo came out since I am spoiled by the speed and precision of higher end transmitters. Binding to the 7px was a breeze and headache-free. My daughter and I have a blast with these little cars and its fascinating to watch these little guys speeding around the house. As awesome as this little car is, i like the mr03evo more.

Amainhobbies has great inventory and fast shipping. I used the coupon and free shipping so that was good. The evo board is worth the upgrade, the steering control alone is worth the upgrade price, but with this kit you also get brushless and the double wishbone suspension setup in back. The time spent installing the dws is worth the work. This kit is very verasatile, although it is becoming the chassis of choice when drifting or racing. The body set up can be tricky due to motor height, so choose wisely. I am using a Audi R8 body with no issues. I know many racing bodies with a cab forward design such as the Audi R8, Ferrari f50, work well and clear the tall motor and wires. Don’t forget an all wheel drive wheel set. You will need rims that are for the mini z awd cars, ma 020, amd not made for the mr series. If you enjoy mini cars, this is a great kit.

Final Update: Originally I did not recommend this MA-030 Evo as mine was not working when it arrived; however, support from Kyosho was excellent. With a little patience they were very helpful and able to resolve the issue. I've been told technical issues are not common but if you run into any, I would suggest to contact Kyosho and have them diagnose the issue. Compared to the MR-030, the Ready Set was easier to use out of the box but the MAEvo is much faster and a little more fun / challenging to drive. If you are more experienced and want something to build like a puzzle and take time to figure out MA-030 Evo is the way to go. On our local RCP track I can barely even use full throttle on the MA-030 Evo 8500KV. If you are new to the hobby or a novice driver I 100% recommend Ready Set 1st. The MR Ready Set took me a few weeks to grow into before I could max out the full power and mess with the gear ratios. The MA is going to take longer for me to utilize to the fullest and will need to tweak setting per each RCP track layout. Hope this helps, Good luck shopping!

I am not very impressed with the delivery time .... the estimated delivery was 17th August, today is the 28th Aug and still the package hasn't left Los Angeles according to the tracking :(
