HPI Savage XL - 1/8 Scale Ready to Run Nitro Monster Truck

The HPI Savage XL 5.9 GTXL-6 1/8 RTR Nitro Monster Truck is a great option for those looking to start an adventure in the nitro monster truck scene. The HPI Savage was an original in the RC bashing movement and is back bigger and better than before. Built with an extra long chassis, this monster truck features a high displacement 5.9cc (0.36ci) engine for extreme torque and speed. Grab the HPI Savage XL 5.9 and take the adventure wherever it takes you.

The chassis is built using an extremely durable Twin Vertical Plate (TVP) chassis design. Beefy suspension arms are connected to big bore nylon shocks to allow for a smooth off-road experience. The three-speed transmission is fully adjustable so you can choose how early or late the truck shifts into high gear. Once at high speed, this truck features a dual vented disk brake design that is heat resistant to reduce fade and increase braking performance.

I love this new gt6xl. MAKE SURE YOU SHIM YOUR TRANSMISSION UNLESS THIS ISSUE HAS ALREADY BEEN FIXED. Other than that get yourself a humpack and fuel and start tuning. Thing is awesome

This is a great nitro truck from HPI. Great craftsmanship, and very detailed. I haven't ran this truck as yet, so I'll see after I break in the engine, and get some runs out of it. Also I'm going to do an overall check before running this truck.

Do not buy this truck! Way way overpriced. They should just make this truck a kit because, you have to take the whole thing apart and do their job for them by fixing the transmission problems and locktite everything. Bad quality control. Honestly this truck is more of a $350 range truck. Same problems as before. Cheap company. They don’t care about their product or customers. Money money money. Thats what you will be putting into their pockets fixing it constantly. I wouldn’t normally say this but, you are better off with a 3.3 Revo. At least traxxas has a little quality control.

Awesome truck, has some new updates that make it better than before. Still, I suggest taking the truck apart if your so inclined, to shim the transmission/differentials and loctite as many screws as you can to avoid problems. Definitely, not for beginners.

Can’t really say to much about it because the transmission pretty much blew up on its first run after breaking in the engine. I’m happy HPI brought the savage back and hope others follow. Overall I’m a savage fan and will give better review after it’s fixed.

One of the best RC cars of all time!!! Don’t let these other reviews fool you! They have zero patience. Best drive line and transmission in any fuel powered rc. Comes set up for life right out of the box, I just prefer a pull start

If your a beginner and want to get into nitro, do not buy this truck. This truck is for someone that already knows how to tune a nitro. And what I hear about the transmission. Forget about it. I would not recomend buying this.

Price is to high when you have to purchase transmitter and receiver battery’s and chargers and also fuel. One of the wheels came off not even one hour of breaking in the engine and driving the truck around. Way over priced for what it is. And my controller is backwards up is throttle and down is breaking. Received no real good help on a fix.
