Hobbywing Xerun XR8 Pro G3 1/8 Competition Sensored Brushless ESC
I just built a second tekno eb48 2.1 to have as a backup buggy. I went with this ESC instead of the xerun plus, mainly because of the price. I finally got to burn a battery pack through it yesterday and I have to say I'm very impressed with it. It's just as fast as the plus and it's smaller. Same size as the older sct esc. Will probably be running these from now on.

Hobbywing Xerun XR8 Pro G3 1/8 Competition Sensored Brushless ESC
I was sad when my Gen2 XR8-Pro died on me and didn't want to change to a different ESC. But when I finally got this new Gen3 XR8-Pro and started installing & using it, I'm glad my Gen2 died(RIP) LOL. Here is why the new XR8-Pro is better:
1.It's smaller
2.It's lighter
3. Battery terminal is now on the opposite side of motor wires to lower board temperature(should have been this way to begin with)
4. Disc brake feature is WiCkEd!
5. More programable features
6. It's cheaper

Cons: Nothing! Buy it!

Hobbywing Xerun XR8 Pro G3 1/8 Competition Sensored Brushless ESC
Broke after 5 minutes , hobbywings warranty process harassed me trying to force me to just pay a reduced price to replace it instead of sending it in. Will never buy hobbywing again

Hobbywing Xerun XR8 Pro G3 1/8 Competition Sensored Brushless ESC
Race with a bunch of HW products and this one has just left me high and dry. After a few big jumps it reduces power and then eventually stops. I've done all the suggestions trying to debug it with no avail. Just spend the extra money and get the XR8 Plus.

Hobbywing Xerun XR8 Pro G3 1/8 Competition Sensored Brushless ESC
Connected it to the newest lcd program box and then the box to my PC via usb, using the latest version of hobbywing link software I was able to fine tune settings. I went to update to the latest firmware and the esc bricked itself. Completely dead and useless, just would not power on no matter what I tried. Had to return. Did all of this right out of the box, unit was never even used.

Hobbywing Xerun XR8 Pro G3 1/8 Competition Sensored Brushless ESC
If you don't need 6S and you're racing 1/8th ebuggy, etruggy or SCT this is your ESC. Grab the OTA programmer at the same time if you don't have one. It will make ESCX adjustments a breeze. Smaller and lighter than the competition. Simply does what what it needs to do!

Hobbywing Xerun XR8 Pro G3 1/8 Competition Sensored Brushless ESC
Had issues from the start.. I have the Gen2 Plus and it works great. Bought this because of the price. Been trying to send it back to hobbywing. From the get go been getting nothing but push back trying to return.2 weeks after contacting them I'm still waiting for return info. This thing is crap and they better send a new one. I've been R/C racing for over 20 years and never had an issue like this.

Hobbywing Xerun XR8 Pro G3 1/8 Competition Sensored Brushless ESC
Problem right out of the box. 1 battery through it and was cutting power almost immediately. I have taken multiple videos to show what is doing. Chased several "suspects". Now I'm going to be without an ESC for a few weeks due to Hobbywing's warranty policy and paying out of pocket for their defective product. Had a very similar issue with the G2. Hobbywing acknowledged the problem but never offered a permanent fix, like a replacement unit. I feel like I'm going to be in the same boat again.

Replaced batteries, receivers, sensor wires, motors, recalibrated several times, resoldered with new wiring, tried glitch busters and even changed the servo and nothing resolved it.

Now to wait on Hobbywing. Again.

PS The XR8 Plus was better than any of the new Hobbywing ESCs.
