This is a pack of four Hobbico Female Star Plugs, with four back caps. Now, there's a better option in polarized power plugs: the Star Plug. It's an option that's easier to grip and pull apart than other plugs, yet holds tight even in the most extreme situations. Its unique design makes for neater installations, because there's no need for heat shrink tubing. It's also compatible with the most common polarized plug in R/C.

Features:

  • Plug body and rear cap are molded from a strong, heat- and impact-resistant polymer.
  • Tapered shape and grip strips for fast, easy separation.
  • Rear caps include a center isolator that prevents terminals from shorting.
  • Features gold-plated male terminals for excellent conductivity and nickel-plated female terminals for wear resistance and longer life.
  • Stainless steel spring for tight connections even after hundreds of uses.

Hobbico Female Star Plug (4)
This product is a perfect example of a great idea that is so horribly executed that it is a waste of a great concept. First, these plugs are so incredibly snug with genuine Deans plugs that you almost need tools to connect and disconnect them. They say they are compatible with Deans, and I guess they technically are, but the fit is so inconvienent and frustrating that if you try to use Deans on one side and this plug on the other, it is just not worth the headache. Now let's talk about the whole concept. I build my own wiring harnesses like a lot of hobbyists. What compelled me to buy this product is that sometimes I build wiring that makes it very difficult to build while keeping the shrink wrap far enough away from the hot joint so that it does not prematurely shrink the shrink wrap. This product intrigued me because it looked like a stout plug and I could build in very tight areas with no concern of affecting shrink wrap or the like. The problem is that the cap that slides on to the plug fits on with this very flimsy groove snap, and it does not lock up very positively. Now if you recall I was talking about how the joint is really hard to separate with genuine deans, like what a lot of batteries come with. So what happens is that the cap simply pops off as you are trying to wrestle the joint apart. This exposes the two solder joints, and is frankly yet another headache. Great idea, just executed extremely poorly. I would use genuine Deans and old school shrink wrap until gen 2 or 3 of this product. Right now it is garbage, literally. I literally threw them away.
