The Flite Test  Viggen is a rule breaker. It's a jet that can slow down to a crawl and not stall. Yet it can be fast and track like an arrow. It has a precise and locked in feel. These characteristics make the FT Viggen a great EDF trainer. The fact that you don't have to fly fast all the time and be afraid of stalling makes the FT Viggen so enjoyable to fly. This plane will teach you about the nature and feel of an EDF power system in a safe and controlled manner. The FT Viggen can be flown on either an EDF or a propeller setup. All the way from a light 24 gram motor setup (440 grams flying weight), up to a 70mm EDF with a 4S 3000mAh (880 grams flying weight). The FT Viggen is the first Super Series speed build kit to be added to our store. The Super Series features intermediate build techniques and high performance flight characteristics.

Flite Test Viggen Speed Build Electric Airplane Kit (700mm)
This was my first EDF jet, and it has been a great experience learning and experimenting with this design. I went with a 3000Kv 2822 70mm EDF unit, and I ran it on both 3S and 4S, and on 3S it is anemic, at least with my 30C batteries. 4S is very nice, and I get a 4 minute flight. I like to fly fast and hard. I ran it with dollar store foamboard, and in a light crash, the nose crumpled like it was intended to do, and the wing bent up. The one bad thing about the crumpled nose is the battery ejected out of the broken nose and was damaged, so I went with some elmer's foam board for those parts along with the vertical stabilizer, along with a carbon fiber spar on the wing. After about 10 flights and one more crash, the elmer's holds up much better, and the added weight I felt was a fair compromise for durability, and the nose still crumples to absorb impact, but it wasn't obliterated like the cheap stuff.

I experimented with adding a rudder to the tail, and it makes it easier to make faster turns, and for me it is a better experience. Some reviews online say it adds some bad roll tendency and it didn't have good enough authority; I felt like the authority was good and on a tight turn, it is great to have the advantage!

Flite Test Viggen Speed Build Electric Airplane Kit (700mm)
This was my first Flite Test EDF. Great build and really fun flier. If you can, on the first flight have someone else launch it. I went straight down and had to replace the nose. Once I was quicker on the elevon's it was not a problem to launch on my own. I'm using a Freewing 70MM EDF w/12 blades, 60 amp ESC, and an 1800 (6s) battery. Lots of power, fast, very stable, good aerobatics, but short flight times. I've noticed when this planes nears a stall, it becomes nearly unflyable, until you add more power and gain speed. Easy to land, but keep the nose slightly high. I fly two 90mm EDF jets, but this is the most FUN, and a lot less expensive. Highly recommend as an EDF.

Flite Test Viggen Speed Build Electric Airplane Kit (700mm)
Amazing plane to fly and true joy to build. This was my first build of anything like this and everything went just like the video shows. Super easy to follow directions and was so enjoyable to build. Had none of the stress or anxiety I would have associated with building anything like this. I went with the EDF build as I have always wanted a Jet and it performed as easy as Josh made it look. After taking this out with 4 of my friends, and gave them chance to check it out and ea getting chance at the controls. All 4 of them have expressed they are definitely making this one, their next plane purchase.

Flite Test Viggen Speed Build Electric Airplane Kit (700mm)
This is truly a fun plane to both build and fly. It is much larger than it seems in videos. I have now scratch-built two of these and I can definitely say it won't be my last. Watch the FT video of Josh's maiden with this plane and you'll understand the fun this one provides. Great design! I went with the EDF power units on mine and these sound great in the air.

Flite Test Viggen Speed Build Electric Airplane Kit (700mm)
So I bought this plane as I had a spare edf kit left over from a jet that just didn't fly and I really wanted to experience how a edf flew but never had the chance with the jet. It arrived within a week and the build process was easy thanks to the video and I really enjoyed building it. It had its first flight the other day and all I can say is that I am so impressed. Its so easy to launch, fly's great slow or fast and is just so easy to fly. I highly recommend this plane and it has now become my new favourite in my hanger. My only negative is the colour of the foamboard. It's a shame it wasn't white like in the build video but its only a very small negative. Keep up the good work guys and I look forward to my next kit.

Flite Test Viggen Speed Build Electric Airplane Kit (700mm)
Great plane, simple as that. I would highly recommend using an EDF as it helps greatly with balancing. I used a Power pod (its what i had) and crashed on the first launch due to improper weight balance. This can be fixed by putting some weight into the battery bay (I used some modeling clay). The replaceable nosecone did a really good job at absorbing the impact and saved the rest of the plane. The back end did get shredded because the motor came off (my fault) but it did very good. I have not successfully flown the plane due to there being lots of wind and me lacking in experience. I had a lot of fun building this and cant wait to see it in the sky.
