The custom-designed foam-board planes can be flown as gliders or combined with our EZ Power Pack for remote controlled flight. They handle real poorly. they turn wide and slow, and do not gain or lose altitude fast while in flight. This is great for younger kids (mine is 9) However you need to have a open FIELD with almost zero wind to enjoy it. It's size doesn't mean it can fly in small spaces or navigate obstacles. A mighty mini is more nimble.
that being said, if you are aware of these limitations, and have a baseball field or large park to fly at, your young kid can enjoy flying a plane with little to no difficulty. the Gyro helps keep them relatively stable when set correctly and they are a simple toss and fly kind of plane. Just do not expect it to work in small spaces well or really turn in any direction with agility. It's intended for first time and young fliers. and for that it's a great choice if you bring them to the field you're flying your larger plane at.
because of how slow and light they are, they also can take a decent about of crashes before you need to fix anything as well. I wish the plans were available at the time of this review, the only way I can see to DIY these is to trace out an existing plane before assembly. I think these would make good 3 channel micro planes with some micro electronics.
