The E-flite Ultra-Micro UMX Yak 54 Bind-N-Fly is small enough and light enough to be flown just about anywhere with a flying weight of barely over an ounce (36 grams). But what really sets it apart is its specially tuned AS3X stabilization system. This exclusive technology makes it easy for sport pilots to discover the fun of hovering and harriers without sacrificing any of the agility an expert 3D pilot demands.

Specially Tuned AS3X® Receiver Makes 3D Easy
The AS3X (Artificial Stabilization – 3-aXis) technology in the model’s receiver makes it easy to discover the fun of 3D aerobatics without feeling frustrated. Using a unique combination of sensors and software, it works behind the scenes to make slow-speed and knife-edge maneuvers feel incredibly stable without limiting the aircraft’s agility or interfering with your control. The plane simply stays in whatever attitude you want without making you struggle to keep it there. The receiver also features five pre-programmed flight modes – three default modes that are active out of the box and two alternate modes you can activate later. Each has different AS3X stability settings tailored for your skill level or the 3D maneuver you want to try.

  • Default Modes
    • General Flight Mode: Heading hold in roll-axis for a locked-in feel.
    • Standard AS3X Mode: Tuned for the expert 3D pilot but great for flying pattern aerobatics, too.
    • Hover Assist Mode: Aggressive heading hold in roll, yaw and pitch so it's easier to enter and maintain a hover.
  • Alternate Modes
    • Knife-Edge Assist Mode: Heading hold settings for roll, yaw and pitch that make it easy to try knife-edge maneuvers.
    • Torque Roll Assist Mode: Aggressive heading hold settings for yaw and pitch that make torque rolls easier.

Flight-Ready Out of the Box
No assembly is required. The model comes with the motor, Receiver/ESC and servos already installed. All you have to do is charge a battery, bind it to a compatible DSMX/DSM2® transmitter and fly. An E-flite® 150mAh 1S 3.7V 45C LiPo battery is recommended for best performance.*

Feather-Light, Carbon-Reinforced Airframe
Carbon fiber rods brace the wings so you can enjoy outstanding power-to-weight performance and still have the rigidity necessary for crisp control response. The model also features carbon fiber landing gear with wheel pants.

Built-In Side Force Generators
Side Force Generators attached to the wing tips boost rudder authority in knife-edge flight so you can fly tighter knife-edge loops.

E-flite Ultra-Micro UMX Yak 54 BNF 3D Basic Electric Airplane (430mm)
this is my first indoor plane, I love the slow flying maneuvers, I can practice in "slowmotion" and if you crash there is usually no damage, tho I broke a wheel pant and bent the nose flying in too small areas. One note, my newest charger did Not go to 1s??? fortunately one of my other chargers did, might want to check before buying, jo

E-flite Ultra-Micro UMX Yak 54 BNF 3D Basic Electric Airplane (430mm)
Me personality, i think this plane is a ripoff only due to the fact that @price point its far to fragile, if it was a $40
throw away that would be fine but at $99 id advise against this purchase unless you just absolutely have to have one.
I could've had a mx or something for a few more bucks.

The cheap plastic film comes off easy just from flying it, the control surface joints are paper thin and rip within first cpl flights, the frame breaks with anything less than ideal landings.

Hopefully e flite pays attention and lowers the price because for $99 bucks your getting 5bucks worth of hardware in a fragile package....do the math.
Sucks because it flies very well and i wanted to like it but my opinion is its a dud.

Im sooo unimpressed e flite, honestly i want my money back!

E-flite Ultra-Micro UMX Yak 54 BNF 3D Basic Electric Airplane (430mm)
Very strong 3 stars. A five start in this size class may not exist in this price. This gets 3 stars because it is so delicate. The structure is foam cut and the individual structural skeleton is too tiny. The whole design just needs a little more meat. The plastic covering is attached to the laser cut frame, but it’s kind of loose. Not stretched too tight and it’s only applied to one side which seems awkward. All of this structural weakness leads to being susceptible to tiny mishaps which is impossible to avoid. The battery matched to the motor and servos gives very short flight times. Depending on what your doing, be happy with 2 min. The flying is pretty fun. It has its own character if you will, and if you just go with it and accept this is how it flies it’s pretty fun. It is no wind or very low wind or indoor only. The flight control has that built in stability that helps with very slight breeze and just overall gives it a fun flying feel. It is pretty stable. If you power off for a glide it’s not too good. I’ve played with the CG and tried to get a nice hands off glide, but it seems like it needs a little power to fly nicely to the ground. Again, I give strong 3 stars or 3.5 stars. I think it could easily get to 4 stars. I would recommend this with the understanding of what you get for the money.

E-flite Ultra-Micro UMX Yak 54 BNF 3D Basic Electric Airplane (430mm)
Great little airplane
Perfect for slow motion 3D in a small space
It is fragile but it is well built and holds up well for what it is
I run it with the Tattu 220 mah batteries and a upgraded motor from Micro Motor Warehouse.
This combination of larger battery and motor gives this little beast plenty of thrust and flight time.
These motors last 5 times longer than the stock one.
I will always have one these lightweight miracles in my hangar.
It's nice to have something that flies this effortlessly - it borders on meditation
After flying 3D helis and crazy fast airplanes, it's great to just chill out and relax
Enjoy !
