This is the Castle Creations Phoenix Edge Lite 50 Brushless ESC. Put your power system on a diet with the Phoenix Edge Lite series of ESCs. With the same amazing features and functionality of the Edge series, the Edge Lite offers a slight weight reduction for applications that are tight for space or weight. Simply put, the same brawn with less body - Phoenix Edge Lite.

With the debut of the Phoenix Edge series of ESCs the next evolution in speed controller technology has arrived. The Edge series introduces a user programmable auxiliary wire capable of functions modelers have only dreamed of, until now. The white auxiliary wire can be used for helicopter governor gain input adjustments mid-flight, serve as an audible beacon after an “unexpected landing”, act as an RPM output for 3-axis gyros that support RPM sensors, be used as an ESC arming lock (coupon for free Arming Lockout Key included) or as a receiver arming lock. Combined with the data logging capability the Edge series of controllers offer, users can enjoy unparalleled versatility.

The Phoenix Edge series is intended for use in helicopters and fixed wing aircraft. As always, the Edge series of controllers offer industry-leading software functions, data logging, and USB programming capability via Castle Link USB adapter (free with included coupon).

Same Incredible Price

The Phoenix Edge controllers deliver all of this at the same astonishing prices as the previous model.

NOTE:

  • *RC HOBBY APPLICATION RATING: 50 amps with appropriate cooling. Phoenix Edge Lite controllers are designed without a heat-sink for applications with extreme air-flow, such as EDF planes, or applications with average current requirements much less than peak current requirements. Controller temperature must never exceed 100C (212F). Exceeding current or temperature ratings may damage components and shorten the life of the ESC. Always verify system current draw at full-throttle. Decrease load or increase airflow to decrease the ESC’s operating temperature.
  • **Peak indicates amperage sustainable for 0.5 seconds – long enough for most servos’ current draw transients. Your setup may vary. Always confirm servo current draw before the first flight of the model.

Castle Creations Phoenix Edge Lite 50 25V 50-Amp BL ESC w/5-Amp BEC
Top flight product, perfectly suits my Blade 450X with upgraded Spektrum H3020 cyclic servos and MKS DS95i tail servo. The programming and working out how to set the throttle endpoints took quite some time and a lot of Q&A chat on HeliFreak though.

And one reservation, particularly from buyers outside the US - the free Castle Link adapter has to be obtained by entering a code from a card in the pack into the Castle web site, and it is sent the slowest possible shipping option. And it does not come with a USB lead for computer connection ... had I opted to buy the lead from Castle, it would have cost $45 shipping to get it to Australia.

In the end I took the quick [and costly] option and bought a full Castle Link kit from a LHS here for $30 including postage.

If they are to be required for heli programming anyway, and Castle is offering them free, I do not see why they don't just include the basic adapter with the ESC in the first place.
