This is the Hobbywing Platinum V4 60A ESC, for use with 450-480 sized Helicopters.

One of a Kind Design
The elegant case is made from aluminum alloy material. Each cooling slot and its fin were carefully designed and arranged, and the case has gone through oxidation, coloring and edge-highlighting.

Innovative Heat Dissipation Structure
The innovative "duo" stacking structure allows all components on both sides of the printed circuit boards to quickly conduct heat to the aluminum case.

Excellent Motor Speed Governing
The high performance 32-bit processor, combined with advanced algorithm, makes the motor speed-governing excellent for different conditions. With the adjustable sensitivity of speed-governing, every pilot can find the most suitable settings for his helicopter.

Super Soft Start-Up
The Platinum 60A makes the motor start extremely soft and avoids tail-drift issues. The start-up time is adjustable within 8 to 25 seconds. This will definitely create a perfect starting point for every flight.

Super BEC
The built-in switch mode BEC with a continuously adjustable output voltage, range from 5V to 8V (steps: 0.1V). It is certain to put out the power you need for rapid, precise steering servo operation.

Great Current Endurance
A high-quality and high-voltage MOSFET with a great current endurance guarantees the ESC's safety especially in a extremely high power demanding situation.

Built-in Sparkproof Circuit
Built-in sparkproof circuit effectively eliminates sparks produced at the "powering-on" moment and prolongs the connectors lifespan.

Hobbywing Platinum 60A V4 60 Amp ESC
I bought this ESC as a replacement to a YEP 35A in my old flybar'd T-rex 450 Pro that failed on the motor side. Thankfully it failed between packs while I wasn't in the air.

I really like the design of HW's ESC's....they seem to be well thought out.

I did have to remove the 3.5mm motor bullets and transfer the 3mm's over, but it's always fun to solder!

I mounted it outside the frame on the forward left side of the nose so it'll get plenty of airflow (and hopefully not cook and fail like the YEP did on the inside). I also used 3 layers of 3M VHB foam tape cut into ~1/4" strips to mount it with minimum contact area at the area underneath that doesn't obstruct the ventilation slots and doesn't contact the square spot (which I assume is the heat sink for the MOSFET).

So far this ESC is running great!

UPDATE (as of 12/30/2023): I bought another of these excellent ESC's for an Align 450L that I've been using as a sacrificial tester for ArduCopter. So far so good! I'll never go back to a FBL controller again.

Hobbywing Platinum 60A V4 60 Amp ESC
I did not purchase this, my father purchased this item approximately two weeks ago, and is currently installed inside of the FT Viggen. We are both relatively new to the hobby, having been flying foamboard airplanes for roughly a year. This ESC appears to function as advertised. The default mode of this ESC is for helicopters, so there is an 8-second "spool up" time when full throttle is applied. I have two specific complaints about how this product is listed on the website:
1.) The first sentence of the product description clearly states this is for helicopters, my complaint is that the ESC is categorized under the aircraft section of ESC's. Please remove it from the aircraft ESC section. Browsing the web it appears that it can be reprogrammed, which leads me to the second complaint.
2.) The ESC REQUIRES a separate programming tool, which is not specified on the product's page. Please add something stating this to the page. (Hobbywing Multifunction LCD Control Box)

I'm giving 5 stars because I assume it works great out of the box for helicopters, but having no helicopters, I cannot confirm this statement.
