Axial SCX24 2019 Jeep Wrangler JLU CRC 1/24 4WD RTR Scale Mini Crawler (White) w/2.4GHz Radio

I like the platform ,not the new electronics. First time turning on esc wont respond and servo just twitches. I didn't try to get a warranty part as others have said replacement part ends up doing the same thing. I went with a hw1625 esc for now . the previous versions with the black esc works good but the new blue esc dose not.

I have been building, driving and bashing rock crawlers since the good old Tamiya TXT-1 days.

The only truck I've owned that is comparable to the SCX24 is a Losi Trail Trecker 1/24. The little Losi was fun but fell short in a number of areas, mainly low speed control/crawl ability. It was just a bit more toy like and ultimately I got bored and sold it.

Fast forward to now and I became interested in the SCX24 looking for something my children and I can crawl and build trails for in the garden.

First impressions, this truck is EPIC! Incredible low speed control/smoothness.

The suspension has good articulation, the tires are fairly grippy for stock tires (could be better, but not bad) and the axle clearance is fantastic!

Run time is long which is great for kids, overall very impressive out of the box.

Sure the tires and steering could be improved and the suspension and weight bias could certainly be tweaked BUT you don't have to do anything to these to have a fun and capable micro scale crawler.

My advice is spend less time upgrading (if you can resist the urge!) And more time building trails in garden, shed, garage or basement and get more than one of these trucks for friends/family to drive!

I love this little crawler. It’s the first real RC I’ve had that didn’t cost $20 at Walmart, and I couldn’t happier with it. From a true novice in the RC crawler world, I can say that this is the perfect beginner setup. It’s such a capable little machine that impresses me more every time I drive it. It’s simple to use, easy to control, does everything you’d want a little crawler to do and then some for under $150. Inside and out, I’ve yet to find any real flaws. Again, just a beginner talking, but I think this is an excellent choice for people like myself who are just getting started in the RC world.

Runs good right out of the box, but like most I can't resist doing upgrades.
I usually start with upgrading tires and adding weight to the wheels.
But like all the Axial products I have had they are a Great starting point.

Bought this for my 5 year old daughter. She absolutely loves it a great starter for your little ones!

Got the Gladiator 1st then had to buy the Wrangler. This is the V2 with new remote and esc. Perfect companion for Gladiator.

Tips:
Set the transmitter endpoints by ear. Listen to the servo when setting the dual rate. Turn remote full left/right until servo is quite at full range. Any noise at the endpoints means the servo is trying turn the steering past its range. This will burn the servo out. Set the throttle the same way. Click it towards reverse until you hear motor wine. Then click it forward until the motor wines. Should be about 8 clicks. Click it back 4 times for centering the throttle. I set mine back 6 clicks. 2 clicks back from neutral. This seems to give me better slow speed control and range on both the Gladiator and the Wrangler.

Do not over tighten ANYTHING on your SXC24!!! Especially the wheel nuts, steering knuckles and transmission case. Wheels must move freely. Move wheels back and forth with finger while you tighten the wheel nut until their movement starts to become restricted. Then back off wheel nut until they move freely again. Steering knuckles should also move freely. There should be a small gap between the steering knuckle and the axle, upper and lower. It just rides on the screws.

Driveshafts need to be in sync. I do this by making sure all 4 grub screws on the drive shafts line up and face the same direction.

Do not fill axle diffs with grease. This will limit the vehicle’s performance. Use TRI Flow lube on all the bearings and use it to clean the axle shafts and worm gears. Use small amount of Lucas white lithium grease on worm gear and in cv dog bones. Just enough to coat each surface. Remove any excess.

TRI Flow on the transmission gears and bearings also improves performance.

If the motor gets hot check your drive line and transmission case for over tightened bolts.

There are 6 very small clear silicone o-rings. 1 in each dog bone and 2 in each worm gear. Find them on your schematics and don’t lose them during disassembly.

Buy an EMAX ES08MA II 12g Analog Metal Gear Servo. You will want one.
Buy an Injora tight tolerance steering link set. You will want one.

Move front bumpers in to their closest position and clip off the excess plastic. This increases approach angle.

Tape a quarter or nickel of your choice to the top of the steering servo. Improves performance.

The jeep is very capable. axial has all the upgrades for the scx24 line of crawlers

Love this car, the body is a bit flimsy doh but ohh well.
