Reedy Blackbox 800Z ESC/Sonic 540-M3 Spec Brushless Motor System (17.5T)
I got this combo back in March and have had mostly positive experiences with it. The motor runs great, doesn't get too hot and neither does the ESC. The problem is that the 800z ESCs are having problems with some transmitters. As an example, I run the combo with my Futaba 3PL. As is normally the case, I have to put the transmitter into reverse mode for the ESC channel, the issue is that the brake drag only works when I place the throttle into reverse. In other words, one of the key features of the ESC doesn't function properly. As a self listed competition ESC, I cannot forgive this kind of an oversight on Reedy's part. Others have sent their ESC back into Reedy for replacements only to have the same issue with their brand new version. I'm not even sure Reedy is acknowledging this problem.
