The ProTek R/C 2S 120C Low IR Graphene + HV LCG 4600mAh Shorty LiPo Battery is a great battery option for any racer looking for a lightweight, shorty style battery. Weighing 165 grams, the LCG shorty is over two ounces lighter than a standard shorty pack, with a smaller footprint. This offers an improved power to weight ratio and a lower overall CG. 

When compared to standard LiPo and LiHV, Silicon Graphene cells deliver improved efficiency, lower operating temperatures, lower internal resistance, better run time, increased cycle life and increased voltage - but Graphene + 120C LiPo batteries take that a step further with more power and lower internal resistance when compared to the previous ProTek LiHV Graphene packs!

Lab testing has shown that ProTek R/C Silicon Graphene packs have double the cycle life when charged at 1C rates, and can be charged at higher amp rates, with less risk of damage to the pack. More importantly, the discharge curve is flatter, meaning the cells maintain higher voltage throughout the discharge cycle with no significant drop off. Additionally, when compared to conventional LiPo batteries Silicon Graphene batteries are lighter, providing a higher capacity per gram ratio. NOTE: While these batteries are LiHV cells, they can still be charged the same as a standard LiPo with a standard LiPo charger. The overall voltage and capacity will be slightly less than when charged to LiHV specs, but the performance will be better than a standard LiPo thanks to the flat discharge curve, reduced weight and low internal resistance. When charged to 8.4V, these packs will still offer a noticeable advantage when compared to a standard 7.4V LiPo pack.

LITHIUM POLYMER SAFETY INFORMATION

IMPORTANT:
1) DO NOT leave the battery in your model when charging
2) DO NOT leave unattended when charging
3) ALWAYS balance charge the battery
4) ALWAYS use a LiPo charging bag
5) YOU MUST use a Li-Poly specific charger to charge the pack (NiMH or NiCD only chargers WILL NOT WORK!)
6) YOU MUST not over discharge the Li-Poly battery pack
7) READ & UNDERSTAND the instructions carefully before operating this battery

NOTE: When using high energy Li-Polymer Batteries, please do not over-discharge or over-charge batteries as this will result in over heated batteries. Discharging capacity can't exceed 80% of the max capacity of the pack after full charging to ensure a good cycle performance. It is recommended to fully charge a brand new battery before using and only discharge the battery 50% for first 5 cycles. Always monitor race time and/or set a low voltage warning on ESC (End voltage cannot be lower than 3.2v per cell). Do not use the battery that has too low a voltage.

Do not expose batteries to sunshine or store/charge batteries at the temperature above 35°C or in a closed car. The high temperature environment could cause damage to the pack or make it burst. If the battery becomes hot while fast charging, high current discharging or racing, do not charge the battery until it has cooled completely. Wait about 20 mins, then inspect prior to recharging.

Battery puffed and rapidly exfoliated to the point where I had to keep it out side in a bucket of sand to prevent burning down my house after the 4th charge w balance. Not impressed with the battery or the brand. A few of my buddies that race with me had the same issue with these batteries. Will not buy again, recommend not buying these batteries unless they cost 5.00$. Sorry ProTek but you suck.

I got three off these a few months ago and disappointed the capacity when measured on my Icharger is only around 3300 . The IR is never below 3’s .

It works great. It is a little awkward trying to mount these lower batteries as my battery strap in my b5m doesn't go that low. They have plenty of juice in them for what I do.

so far so good. yes IRs are around 3.8 but my more expensive shorty battery is the same IR, maybe something with this form factor? not a concern esp for the price. Performs well but only using on VTA so not much demand for power! doesnt even get warm. Got on a good sale, price couldn't be beaten by a long shot.

Overall, I like this battery. It is dimensionally slightly smaller than its counterpart 8.4v LiPo and it is considerably lighter. Both a plus in today's confined space racing chassis. Additionally, there is the option to charge it to 8.4v LiPo level or 8.6v HV level. This gives it flexibility to run under differing rules packages concerning battery voltages. T-connector option and balance charge lead are nice features.

On the minus side the battery leads are heavy 12ga. Understanding that a manufacturer has no idea the application a battery will be put to. That said, lighter 14ga leads would have been my preference. The pass through female connections extending through open to the bottom of the chassis is a minor and possible short circuit concern. Have taped the pass throughs on the underside of the battery as a precaution. Neither of these comments a big thing.

I liked this battery well enough to buy a second. It is the spec battery for my back yard grass track oval series.

I’m leaving this review after having a couple replacements sent my way already all due to puffing. I’ve charged them properly, stored them properly, made sure they never got hot and still have had two of them puff on me to the point where I discontinued their use. They perform really well, don’t get me wrong they’re great little batteries but they just… puff. I have Gens Ace Redline batteries that I treat the exact same way and they do not give me the issues that these last few Proteks have. I’m hoping I just got some lemons, but I guess we shall see.

I'm sure its a great battery as I have had good experience with Protek so far, but the description is incorrect. The battery is 96mm instead of the described 93mm in length. It does not fit the battery compartment of my xray x12 2021. 93mm would have fit (I tested this by 3D printing a box with the described dimensions and verified fitment before placing an order)

Really solid performance. I.R. numbers are already really good after only the first handful of cycles. Felt great in my 13.5 4wd buggy,zero fade during my runs. Best protek packs yet
