This is the MIP 1/5 Scale 54mm 8-Shoe Racing Clutch. Longer Lasting. More Punch. Lighter. Faster Spool Up. Rebuildable. These phrases describe what MIP’s 1/5th scale clutch provides. As any 1/5 scale enthusiast knows, the stock clutch is non-rebuildable, its heavy, loses its edge in the first 15 minutes and fades quickly after. Most of all it takes a long time for the motor to spool up and the clutch to engage properly. With all these downfalls and swapping out $30 clutches every couple heats, the guys at MIP knew it was time to make some magic.
MIP has developed a true racing clutch that is superior to that of the stock clutch. MIP’s 1/5th Scale 54mm Racing Clutch hits harder and faster. Its shoe longevity is vastly improved, and when shoes and springs do wear out, there’s no need to ditch the entire assembly as it is completely rebuildable! It’s not a question as to whether you need this clutch, but rather are you going to get one before your competition does?

*NOTE: Some engines (usually 32cc and up) vary on backspacing on crankshaft length so if you have had to modify the original clutch backplate to be accepted on an aftermarket engine than the MIP clutch may not be compatible. The dimensions used for the backspacing of the MIP Racing Clutch were based off of the stock Losi 1/5 scale clutch and backplate.

MIP 1/5 Scale 54mm 8-Shoe Racing Clutch
Meltdown after approximately one tank of fuel. Less than an hour run time. Some guys telling me my engine is too powerful. Other guys say it needs more venting on clutch housing. Funny, because nothing about this in instructions. And I have two hours on a stock clutch with almost no wesr. I'm going to contact MIP and see what they say. Until then; way too expensive for almost no run time. Had to drop out of the race.
