Losi Mini 8IGHT 1/14 Scale 4WD Electric Buggy RTR w/2.4GHz & Brushless System
Well after two short runs through the yard, first time on stock battery second on 2S lipo, I can say two things about the Losi mini 8ight. 1st. Wow! this thing is fast on lipo. 2nd. Buy some Bright fluorescent paint for the shocks so you can find them in the grass after they break and fall off. No I was not jumping at the time of the break. I read alot of reviews on this buggy before I bought it, and many people said the shocks were a problem, man were they right! Glad I bought spare shock parts just in case. If they would fix this problem I would rank this car a 5star.

Losi Mini 8IGHT 1/14 Scale 4WD Electric Buggy RTR w/2.4GHz & Brushless System
This thing is amazing! I bought this buggy, took it out of the box, put a LiPo in it, bound it to my DX3s, and threw it on the track... That was it!!! This is the first vehicle that I have ever been able to do that with and actually have it be race worthy. After two days of racing, I can't think of anything that I would really change beyond the weight of the shock oil. This buggy has been a blast to drive and looks to hold up very well to the abuse of a 1/10 scale off road track. I was able to easily keep up with any 1/10 scale buggy that I was racing against to give you an idea of the awesomeness of this little guy. And, what you get for the price is pretty cool. If you were to get this type of platform in a 1/10 scale, with the same style electronics, you would be paying anywhere from $500-$700... There are a few small things that I feel need to be addressed though... I went through about three shock caps in two days of normal on track driving, which seems slightly excessive. I was also sad to notice that this part only comes packaged with other shock components and they want $5.99 for the package... I hate having to buy things that I don't need... Also, the battery tray seems like a strange size since pretty much no LiPo will fit it easily. I was able to clip the edges of the battery tray and make a LiPo fit with little effort, so no harm done there. It is also important to note that Losi does graciously provide their own LiPo to fit perfectly in the compartment, but they wanted $50 for it at my LHS which seems slightly INSANE!!! Nothing like a 5,000% markup on something for the small amount of convenience that it provides. All in all, if you are thinking of getting this little buggy, just do it. You are not going to find a better system that is RTR at this price point. The buggy is very fast and the included electronics are pretty darn good too. This is also a very impressive platform that is made for years of enjoyment with very solid (race quality) components. Awesome job Losi!!!

Losi Mini 8IGHT 1/14 Scale 4WD Electric Buggy RTR w/2.4GHz & Brushless System
Excellent little buggy handles amazing very durable with minor upgrades. The NiMh it comes with is garbage but put a 2s lipo in it and the little buggy flies. If your debating on buying this, stop now and just buy it, it's WELL worth the money.

Losi Mini 8IGHT 1/14 Scale 4WD Electric Buggy RTR w/2.4GHz & Brushless System
1st out of the box impressions are that this is a great kit. Looks good, shocks move nicely, turnbuckels are standard, looks solid. My very 1st losi, so this is not indicative of other Losi product.

I am a bit anal with my RC, so I read the manual etc & went through a full system & setup check prior to putting on the road. the supplied manual is of almost no value & contains no parts or assembley details, i suspect it can be downloaded

Spectrum radio needed a little adjustment, adjusting the steering D/R knob causes the centre point to drift significantly, keeping the servo & steering centred & return to centre is also not consistant. the servo itself is slow and is prone to just making noise, even sitting on a setup stand with no load on the steering or wheels.

There is a lot of slop in the steering, especially the left wheel which has a significant amount more slop than the right. so much so that visual centring of the steering is not possible because there is so much play in the left wheel.

Tranmittion tests reveals a lot of vibration on both front & rear left wheels. It is very pronounced compared the right side which runs smoothly & causes the whole car to shake, this is before you put Lipo batteries in which will make it worse. perhaps the wheels are very badly balanced or the drive shafts are not straight.

the right rear lower outer hinge pin that connects to the hub carrier also has a lot of slop, like a 1/8 buggy after a season of hard racing. a lot of free play compared to the right side, a visual guess i would say about 3 degrees of toe in variation with just a gentle wiggle compared to about 1 degree on the right side.

As a 1st car or for an RC basher this is probaly fine. But if you have had a few kits before & have any pride in your vehicles & their setup there is quite a bit that needs attention straigh out of the box.

At this price point it is at the top end of micro RC. somewhat disapointing. My VXL 1/16 slash by comparison is MUCH more precise, a true basher and requires almost no attention at all.

i will pull it apart and see if some assembley tweaking can sort it out, maybe this is just typical of RTR assembley.

Unfortunately i bought this from a perth retailer as a going away present to myself on the way to the philippines. otherwise i would have returned the kit.

A main have been great with Inferno & heli needs.

Losi Mini 8IGHT 1/14 Scale 4WD Electric Buggy RTR w/2.4GHz & Brushless System
This little buggy rips! It handles awesome and is stupid fast on 3s lipo. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the issues I have had with the shock caps and ends busting. Other than that I would highly recommend this buggy to anyone who wants 8th scale buggy looks and performance for a fraction of the cost.

Losi Mini 8IGHT 1/14 Scale 4WD Electric Buggy RTR w/2.4GHz & Brushless System
First let me say this is an amazing car. Its funny to watch peoples reactions when this lithe guy conquers the track and keeps pace with a 1/10 scale SCT or buggy. This car performs flawlessly in most categories, if I had to make a complaint about the car it would be two things. 1st the shocks break off way to easily (there is a set screw in each A arm that can be adjusted down to lighten the load on the shocks, highly recommended) And my second complaint would have to be the lack of Losi's ability to keep up with the demand for hop up parts. I ll admit I'm not the worlds best driver and I keep tagging the wall and breaking the front A arm brace. Once again you can't just buy one you have to buy all four. I have a whole pile of broken ones and ones I don't need. The main point of this complaint would be the fact that the aluminum brace is back ordered every where and I have bought the plastic set enough times to purchase two sets of aluminum ones if they where available. With this said the buggy is a great purchase for the price and truly is a RTR right of of the box. Grab a Lipo and impress every one at the track.

PS 2s is all you need, 3s will make this thing uncontrolable.
