THE Flite Test Sea Otter is taking the sea by storm... and the AIR by surprise! This plane is "Otter-ly" amazing! Whether you are flying off water, snow or land this the SEA OTTER does it all! Now upgraded to Maker Foam this model from Peter "Mad Scientist" Sripol brings the sea plane design to a whole new light. Peter designed this plane to allow for newer pilots to be able to have a simpler design for a better overall sea plane intro experience. This might not be a "FIRST PLANE" for most people, but it is definitely a great intermediate option! This plane flies wonderfully and feels great in the air and looks great on the water. We hope you have as much fun flying it as we did! So, grab one and let us know in the review section below about your experience... LET'S FLY!

Flite Test Sea Otter "Maker Foam" Electric Airplane Kit (1016mm)
I have this maker foam Sea Otter. While it flew relatively well the first two times, it developed a horrible wing flex the third time as the poorly supported wings flapped like a bird. Tried to install a paint stick, but am having a devil of a time getting the wings back together now. There are much better flying builds out there. Simple Scout, Duster, Storch and Edge 540 are all much stronger designs that can handle all kinds of winds and landings. This is not one of them.

Revision: I got the paint stick installed and am flying it with a C motor, 40amp esc and 4S 1500. It takes off of grass and is quite aerobatic. I did actually manage a loop, and it flies rock-solid in wind. Haven’t had it on water yet, but it’s greatly improved with a wooden wing spar. Downside is that I lost most of the dihedral! We’ll see if that matters when I get it on the water. I will wait for an extremely calm day.

After a dozen or so more flights, I am delighted with this design! Flies great in wind and bad weather! Doesn't really like inverted flight, but it's faster and more stable that I would have ever thought! This is a true weather beater and is a welcome addition to anyone's home squadron of Flite Test planes.

Flite Test Sea Otter "Maker Foam" Electric Airplane Kit (1016mm)
Very fun plane to put together. But it flies like an otter. Unstable, poor tail design, and unable to cope with windy conditions (as shown by their video). We've built and flown many great FT kits, but the sea otter is one to avoid. Gonna try the sea duck next.
