well, it's an interesting concept. does not work... at all. my experience was that instead of pushing the wheel off the tire the base plate deformed upward and cracked in 2 places. never did get a tire off the wheel. didn't try a mounting but i have a feeling the results would be the same considering how much force i am required to use manually to get a tire mounted to the wheel.
