DW Hobby Savage Bobber ARF Electric Airplane Kit (1000mm)
A very unstable plane; a nightmare for a beginner, and a challenge for a seasoned pilot.

A friend at the local club had one of these and we couldn't get it to stop crashing. I took it as a challenge, bought my own and set it up to see if I could tame it.

I added a 1400kv motor to run with a 3s 1300 and 7x5 prop. Pushing the battery all the way forward, this just barely gets the recommended CG...but only barely.

Mine flies better than my friend's, I can get it off the ground and putz around in the sky, but this thing requires CONSTANT correction! Its natural tendency both power-on and power-off is to roll in either direction and lawn dart to the ground. I thought the giant motor and prop in my friend's plane was the cause (torque rolling), but no, this thing has some kind of positive feedback loop making it roll randomly unless you correct.

Stalls into a wingover, ailerons are mostly ineffective, and I'm genuinely scared the control surface horns will fall out (rudder already did).

I'm not saying don't buy this, but know what you are getting into. I fly RC helicopters, and flying this thing in a straight line scares me more than practicing piro flips. Absolutely gorgeous, this is my most scale looking mini RC plane, and the 1300mAh batts for it can charge off of a potato power source. Still...it will explode into a pile of toothpicks one day.
