This is a pack of four Yokomo DRPA Competition Drift Tires for use on P-tile surfaces. This is a solid type competition resin drift tire ideal for P-tile and has been long term tested to ensure consistent traction and sliding characteristics. Previously tires have tended to require a long period of break-in to achieve their optimal grip, but the DRPA provides constant grip right out of the box and maintains stable performance over the long run.

Although it is possible to mount this tire on a general tenth size drift wheel as it is, in case the size is loose, use a tire attachment tape (YOKZR-DRT) between the tire and the wheel.

Yokomo DRPA Competition Drift Tire (4) (for P-Tile)
*While I hadn’t purchased these tires from Amain, I do own them. Below are my thoughts and opinions on this product.

As an avid RC drifter, I come across so much different products in my time. Recently announced, Yokomo decided it was time to challenge the RC drift world with their newest compound: the Yokomo DR-P.

As you’d expect from Yokomo, this is their newest offering for drifters and is designed specifically for poly-tile (P-tile) surfaces like those typically found all over Japan and what’s become commonplace for many drift tracks across the US as well.

The key difference between this and the more common DR-C carpet tire is that these do not require a long break-in time as opposed to many others. Like the DR-C these tires are very consistent throughout their lifetime, offering good traction, no matter how much the tires wear! I’m theory, you could go a full season on these tires depending on how aggressively you use them.

Mounting them is really easy compared to the DR-C. The “narrow” sidewall with no taper faces out while the tapered sidewall faces inward. The tires are also tapered as well so it can only be mounted one way. As for mounting, it is recommended to use Yokomo tire tape or Scale Reflex’s drift tire mounting O-rings, preferably in the thin size but it depends on the wheels you’re mounting these tire too. Your experience will vary.

For performance, these tires are much more predictable to use, compared to the DR-C. For my car, I can point the car where it needs to go and it just grips! I run a 10.5T motor and 6:1 final drive ratio on 50C 2S LiPo. Even though my car is a bit overpowered for the track I race at, these tires perform really well and are very consistent. Break in took a few laps but once it warmed up, I felt as though I could get much more aggressive with my drift angles.

For comparison sake, these tires are aimed at other HDPE tires like the RêveD AS-01. Comparing the two, they are VERY similar to each other and while I do like the AS-01, the DR-P handles slightly differently but the same… Confusing but it’s as though there’s actually MORE forward traction than the AS-01 and more control yet both drive almost identically on my car…

Overall, I’m very pleased that Yokomo decided to silently release these tires as it gives drivers more options to consider in their drifting setup, rather than settling on AS-01’s in practice and DR-C’s in competition. If you can get past the name (I call them the Yokomo “DeRPs”), you won’t be disappointed in these tires! They really are THAT good!
