Yeah Racing Tamiya TT-02 Adjustable Aluminum Motor Mount (Blue)

I bought this for my RWD drift TT-02D simply because the car had other Yeah Racing parts on it. Though not purchased from Amain, I do have it.

One of the biggest advantages to using an aluminum motor mount instead of the stock TT-02 mount is the added benefit of heat dissipation and better structural rigidity in the event of a crash.

The thing is, compared to the original Tamiya plastic or even aluminum mount is that you’re limited to using ONLY .6 Module/42P sized pinions and spur gears. This mount, when coupled with the Yeah Racing spur gear holder, allows you to use nearly ANY style of pinion and spur gear combo you chose, provided the pitch of the gears are the same. Why do I say this? Because I carelessly stripped a gear set consisting of a 48P 68T spur gear with the stock 42P 22T pinion! Not fun and not cheap either.

That being said, I would choose this mount over the Tamiya mounts simply for versatility in allowing any gear combination that’ll reasonably fit inside a TT-02 with no issue.

One tip to using this: after getting the spur and pinion mesh correct by using a piece of paper (an old RC trick), mark the top of the mount with a visible line where the top screw lines up. This is important as you must tighten the top screw FIRST before you can secure the motor with the bottom screw. It’s a bit tedious but understand failure to getting the mesh correct will have disastrous results!

If you’re looking at a key upgrade for your TT-02, definitely get yourself one of these! You’ll be glad you did!

I needed an adjustable mount for my TT-02 so I could tune it to a good top speed (I have the Hobbywing 3250KV 3s motor, which was the best power for money that would actually fit). I ended up needing gears upwards of 28t and the stock mount either did not fit them, or would take hours to find the correct set of holes. I initially tried another brand, but it was far too thin and stripped 4 pinions before I found the problem.

I finally switched to this Yeah Racing mount and it fits quite snugly. The washer helps prevent marring on the adjustable rails, (which would prevent going up or down by 1 tooth, as it would snap back into the initial dent in the metal) and the motor absolutely cannot move around. I wish there were some more mounting holes in the mount for extra slip-resistance, but it seems to be quite secure. The added heat dissipation is also a plus. The machining was also top notch, with no visible problems. It seems quite resistant to flex as well. Now I’m back to going 50mph with no stripped gears :)

This motor mount works as advertised but the quality is less than expected, especially with other YR products being good. The anodize is a bit thick in places and it causes the screws to not move smoothly to adjust the motor. The motor with the mount has to be completely removed to get proper gear mesh each time you change pinion or spur since the lower screw is buried.

Let's me change my pinion nice and easy! It does get stuck in the chassis though so changing the motor is hard...
