Yeah Racing 3mm Stainless Steel Screw Set w/Case (400) (Flat Head/Button Head)
I bought this because I was looking to build a static TT-02. While the project itself hasn’t materialized (yet), I figured that I’d use these screws to upgrade one of my TT-02’s to hex head hardware and I felt stainless would give my car the look and rust-free benefits I was looking for.

This set was one of the most affordable sets you can get on Amain at the time of writing. The quality is top notch and what I come to expect from Yeah Racing since I use many of their option and upgrade parts. It also had the largest quantity of hardware compared to others featured on the site.

This set is really great and upgrading all my hardware was very easy since all I had to do was remove the old screws and replace with these.

Sadly, there are some downsides to using this kit. First, any metallurgist will tell you that stainless steel is the most brittle of steel types out there since most of the carbon in it was removed. The benefit is no rust at the expense of tensile strength. For my TT-02, I don’t think that’s an issue since every other part will likely fail before the bolts ever do. If you’re concerned about strength, I’d recommend the Grade 10.9 set instead. If you adamantly want strength AND lightness, you’ll need to consider Yeah Racings’ titanium screw set instead.

Another thing to note is that you WILL need to use some sort of lubrication when replacing self-tapping screws with this set since you’ll be creating more friction and heat from tightening these in a bathtub chassis like mine. Any grease or oil will work; just make sure you’re using it or you’ll be fighting the screw(s) the entire time!

Perhaps more a nitpick than a real problem with these is that some of the screw heads are not cut quite the same. I had an issue where one of the bolts was a little looser than one of the others and my wrench was slipping and starting to strip the head. Yes, I lubricated the screw and yes, I was using the correct wrench but somehow it still slipped. Might be one bad one amongst it all but it’s not a total loss since I was able to get it to work.

Lastly, probably just another nitpick but even though this kit has 40 3x10mm buttonhead screws in it, using these on my TT-02 nearly wasted the entire stock of them! I think I only have about 12 or so out of the 40 that came with it so my advice if buying this kit for a TT-01 or TT-02, be aware you may use almost ALL of them!

All in all, if you’re looking to upgrade your hardware or are just looking to give your chassis some bling, you couldn’t go wrong with a set of these! Yeah Racing does have screw sets in carbon steel, aluminum and titanium too so if you need to lighten your chassis and/or want to bling it up, consider one of those other options! Some are even chassis specific so check their website first before ordering.
