But on any kind of rough terrain, this one is far superior. It has proper turnbuckle steering, and has a notably tighter turning radius. Naturally, it has better traction on grass and loose surfaces.
One weakness is that Traxxas left the front of the front/rear driveshaft tunnel open in the front, underneath. So sand and water get up in there, and it's not easy to get it out. Some have also mentioned that the body sits too high, and I agree, but this is not a deal-breaker. On the stock 7c NiMH battery pack, it is pretty quick, and has a decent run time. About 13 minutes of mixed running on short grass.
This is maybe the best 1/10 scale basher I've ever driven. It is spendy, but worth it.
I put a set of Pro-Line Sand Paws on it for snow running. They're loads better than stock, but it still digs itself in, in snow deeper than 2".
The body is thin and weak. When you tear yours up, replace it with a properly thick aftermarket one by Pro-Line or something. I've got a 50s truck body that looks pretty sweet on it.
The TQi radio is fantastic. Fully programmable, but just without a display. You have to have a guide to look at while you work through it. The iPad/iPhone attachment for it is not that useful, as Traxxas is not keeping the app up to date for use with the latest iDevices. So the only way to get your money's worth out of it is to buy an old iPod just for that purpose, with an old OS.
The wall wart charger takes 8 hours to charge the included battery pack, so plan on buying a couple extra packs and a decent fast charger.
I'm not a fan of the traxxas springs but the shocks are good. I use losi springs.
When you order the truck order the cvd kits both front and rear and the kingshead motor mount and maybe a tire upgrade cause the stock tires suck for traction and you wont be disapointed this thing is a blast i love it as much as my mugen mbx6 eco
get off the fence and just buy it you know ya wanta
I'd highly recommend this truck if your looking for a fun and powerful basher right out of the box.
