3 STEPS TO TRANSFORM
YOUR ROCK CRAWLER

With just a few key performance upgrades you can turn your crawler into an all new machine. Here are some of our go-to recommendations for beefing up a stock crawler.

Lower the Center of Gravity

By swapping out the lightweight plastic wheels for a heavier alternative, you can increase weight down low, and lower the center of gravity. There are many wheel options available, but the SSD Steel Beadlock Wheels are a great way to bulk up, and since they are beadlocks, you can reuse them over and over, unlike glue on plastic wheels.

To take it one step further, add brass weights from brands like Yeah Racing or Samix to the axles and wheels to further lower the center of gravity.

Upgrade your Tires & Foams

Like most RC cars, the right tires are crucial. The right set of tires will vary from surface to surface, but for general crawling we like to recommend Pro-Line’s Hyrax Rock Terrain Tires.

But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t experiment! Finding the tires and foams that suit your preferred terrain will make a world of difference!

High Torque Servo

With added weight in your rig, you need a servo that can handle it. High torque servos like the EcoPower WP120T or ProTek 370TBL can dish out more power when making tough climbs. They're also more durable for when things get rough.

Additionally, having a rebuildable servo can save you some serious cash if you end up sending it a little too hard and stripping your servo gears.

With all of this in mind, there are a million different ways to upgrade your ride. This guide is a great way to start, but that doesn't mean it's the only way. The most important thing is to make it your own and enjoy RC!
