Top 10 In Stock Traxxas Vehicles 2021

What are the best Traxxas vehicles available right now? Unfortunately, the availability of R/C cars has taken a beating from the global supply chain issues. Still, as we head into the holiday season, AMain Hobbies has a wide variety of Traxxas cars that are ready, willing, and available. What are those cars? Well, let’s find out as we count down through our top 10 Traxxas vehicles, available now!

#10 LaTrax 1/18 Vehicles

Traxxas LaTrax Desert Prerunner 1/18 4WD RTR Short Course Truck TRA76064-5-REDX
Traxxas LaTrax Teton 1/18 4WD RTR Monster Truck TRA76054-5-REDXTraxxas LaTrax Rally 1/18 4WD RTR Rally Racer TRA75054-5-RED

The very first cars on our list are the smallest and the least expensive, but still tons of fun, and we’re talking about the LaTrax brand of 1/18 scale electric cars, including the 4WD Desert Prerunner Short Course Truck, the 4WD Teton Monster Truck, and the 4WD Rally Car. These cars share the same waterproof brushed electronics, oil-filled shocks, independent suspension, and ProGraphix painted bodies. Plus, the smaller nature of the 1/18 scale helps save space, making them ultra portable and playable just about anywhere. The best part of the LaTrax 1/18 scale vehicles is that they’re fully ready-to-run and ready to go, for under $150, and they include a battery.

#9 Traxxas Bandit

This next car on the list is one of the best-known R/C buggies out there, and that’s the Traxxas Bandit. This buggy is the first on our list to be the standard 1/10 scale size, and it’s a huge bump up in terms of speed, capabilities, and upgradeability. The Bandit VXL brushless model can reach an impressive 70mph top speed out of the box. There are few requirements to do this, but it can be done. The Bandit also features waterproof electronics, oil-filled shocks, and an independent suspension, ready for the pavement or off-road dirt. When it comes to upgrades, there have been more option parts and accessories made for this Traxxas chassis than probably any other R/C car in the world. So finding upgrades, accessories, and replacement parts should never be an issue. The brushed Bandit can be found with a battery and charger (TRA24054-1 only) starting at $220. If you are looking for a brushless car, the Bandit VXL is about $320, and it does require a battery pack.

The next Traxxas vehicle you can pick up right now is the tried-and-true TRX-4. Some R/C cars don’t need to be fast, and the TRX-4 is an excellent example of a slow crawling truck designed to tackle harsh terrain. To do it, the TRX-4 features solid, high-clearance portal axles, a 4WD drivetrain, and waterproof electronics. Some TRX-4 models also include remote locking differentials and a selectable 2-speed transmission that you can adjust with a switch on the transmitter, but not all of them. The TRX-4 is one popular truck, though, so not all body styles are always available, like the newly released 2021 Ford Bronco, but many of the other body styles are frequently in stock. For pricing, the ready-to-run TRX-4 Sport trucks start at $285 and go up from there, adding in officially licensed bodies and the 2 speed differential functionality.

The TRX-4 is also offered as a kit for anyone who wants to build it themselves, and it’s available.

#7 Traxxas Slash 4x4

Traxxas Slash 4X4 RTR 4WD Brushed Short Course Truck TRA68054-1-ORNGTraxxas Slash 1/10 RTR Electric 2WD Short Course Truck TRA58034-1

Chances are you’ve heard of this truck because it’s one of the most famous and influential R/C cars of all time – yep – we’re talking about the Traxxas Slash. Short course trucks are great bashers, and part of their thrill is how well they swap paint when racing heats up. Because of that, short course trucks are great fun with friends and family, and if you’re lucky enough to have a track in your local area, they may offer a Slash spec class which is common at many tracks and a great way to run an official race with this truck. The Slash is an amazing R/C that can be customized and upgraded to be just about anything, regardless of your intentions. The Slash comes in 2WD or 4WD, and options include brushed electronics, or VXL brushless electronics, and then, of course, all the different body colors and styles. As for availability right now, all of the versions are available, but not all the different colors and body styles. The 2WD brushed Slash starts at $230, and the brushless Slash 4x4 starts at $330, and both of those versions include a battery pack.

#6 Traxxas Rustler 4x4

Traxxas Rustler 4X4 1/10 4WD RTR Stadium Truck TRA67064-1-REDTraxxas Rustler 4X4 VXL Brushless RTR 1/10 4WD Stadium Truck TRA67076-4

Our very next truck you probably wouldn’t necessarily race, but it’s a great basher, and it’s the Rustler 4X4. For sizing, this is a 1/10 scale truck, sized similar to the Slash and Bandit, with one exception, it’s wide. The biggest advantage of having a wide stance is the extra stability it offers the truck, especially at high speeds, when corning fast, or when driving on uneven rough terrain. Since the wheels stick out beyond the body, it’s not so forgiving when rubbing paint like how a short course truck is, but the extra aggressiveness this wide stance affords you, make the Rustler 4x4 a great way to thrash, bash and do wheelies. With the Brushless VXL model, the truck is rated for an impressive 65mph, and when we tested it ourselves, our truck reached 66mph. The Rustler 4x4 is a joy to thrash around and offers a little more aggression over similarly sized Traxxas vehicles, and is one of the best ways to let out a little steam while staying in the 1/10 sized category. You can find the brushed Rustler 4x4 model from $330 including a battery or the brushless VXL model for $430, and it requires a battery.

#5 Traxxas Hoss

Up next is a vehicle that was released just last year, and it’s only available with brushless VXL electronics, and it’s available right now – it’s the Traxxas Hoss VXL. For sizing, the Hoss is the largest vehicle we’ve discussed so far and it includes the same VXL electronics as the other cars, except the Hoss has been equipped with the oversized 540XL motor, which barely breaks a sweat when driving. When we tested it, the Hoss popped wheelies, pulled backflips, and bashed around impressively. Thanks in part to the taller tires and design of the chassis, the Hoss sits higher off the ground than all the other cars we’ve talked about so far. Just like a proper monster truck should, so the Hoss offers more ground clearance over the terrain, but with a reduced center of gravity. But what the Hoss lacks in CG’s, is made up for with aggressive power, aggressive tires, aggressive styling, and that awesome Traxxas monster truck look. You can find the Hoss available in a few body color styles for $470, and it requires a battery.

If you love the smell of nitro in the morning, then say hello to the first nitro on our list, the T-Maxx 3.3 Monster Truck. Some legends wear capes, while others braaap and fling dirt, which is precisely what the T-Maxx 3.3 nitro truck was made to do. Now don’t get us wrong, nitro R/C cars are not for everyone and not recommended for beginners. But, if you find yourself dreaming of carburetors, fuel clunks, and clutch shoes, then maybe it’s time to wake up and embrace your destiny. T-Maxx features include the TRX 3.3 racing engine with an EZ-Start system, auto shifting two-speed transmission, installed telemetry sensors, 8 oversized shocks, and aggressive monster truck styling. So, if you’re looking for a challenge, something new, or you want to join the circle of elite nitrogang hobbyists, the T-Maxx 3.3 might be for you. Plus, the truck comes assembled and ready-to-run out of the box for about $500, but nitro fuel is required.

#3 Traxxas Maxx

Traxxas Maxx 1/10 Brushless RTR 4WD Monster Truck TRA89076-4-REDXTraxxas Maxx 1/10 Brushless RTR 4WD Monster Truck TRA89076-4-SLRF

When it comes to extreme R/C cars you can buy right now and play with, it’ll be hard to find a better truck than the Traxxas Maxx. This truck is still relatively new and employs all the new-gen technologies that Traxxas offers, like self-righting and body clipless fastening. More importantly, though, the Maxx is identical to the X-Maxx, with just its proportions scaled down, so you end up with a lightweight and compact truck that’s fast, powerful, thrashable, and extremely durable. The drivetrain is even overbuilt to accommodate more power if you’re feeling the itch to upgrade. Some people say the Maxx doesn’t look as impressive as the bigger X-Maxx, but it’s smaller, lighter, easy to carry, easier to store, requires fewer batteries, and it’s cheaper. So if you still want all that great Maxx taste without the extra calories of the X, the Traxxas Maxx is ready to serve. Conveniently, the Maxx is only available with VXL brushless electronics, with a few body color styles to choose from, and it comes assembled and ready-to-run for about $550, and it does require a battery.

From the desert to the dirt, to the street – this is the one and only UDR - Unlimited Desert Racer. This pro-scale surface brute is over 27” long and, so far, is the biggest R/C we’ve talked about and perhaps the most realistic. But the UDR not only looks like a real desert truck, it drives like one too, being engineered like a real desert truck with a 4WD drivetrain, 4-link solid axle rear suspension, cantilever sway bar system, 8 GTR long-travel shocks, and a 50mph speed rating. So, whether you’re blasting through the dunes or bashing through the neighborhood, the UDR delivers the goods. Scale details include a ProGraphix painted exterior body shell mounted to a tube frame with an interior driver, dash details, suspension limiter straps, fake disc brakes, and more. The UDR also features a replacement driveshaft and spare tires on the body for looks, but they’re also useable if you need them trailside. Current UDR models also include a rugged waterproof LED lighting system installed and included, with three body color styles to choose from, all for about $800, and a battery is required.

Traxxas X-Maxx 8S 4WD Monster Truck TRA77086-4-REDXTraxxas X-Maxx 8S 4WD Monster Truck TRA77086-4-GRNX

What has huge 4x4 power, mammoth sizing, and is the ultimate Traxxas Monster Truck? Well, how about the Traxxas X-Maxx. When it comes to big R/C cars, the X-Maxx has it covered with a 30-inch length, 19-pound weight, and an 8S LiPo compatibility, making it the most extreme monster truck Traxxas has ever offered and the biggest. The X-Maxx also features all the new-gen Traxxas technologies, like self-righting, and adds huge oversized tires, shocks, and stance. In addition, the X-Maxx ground clearance is equally impressive, making the X-Maxx the ideal platform for the roughest, most extreme terrains, where other R/C’s can’t go. Because of this, the X-Maxx is the ultimate monster truck in terms of power, capabilities, durability, and performance. Be sure you have the open pastures to let this monster roam free, or it might bite you. The Traxxas X-Maxx is available right now, fully ready-to-run in four different colored body styles for about $1000, and it requires two battery packs.

Honorable Mentions

A couple of cars deserve honorable mention, like the new Traxxas Drag Slash, an excellent introduction to no prep R/C drag racing. Another good option for off-road is the high-performance basher known as the E-Revo 2.0. Both of these vehicles come highly recommended but were unfortunately out of stock at the time of this post. However, you may backorder these items, and they will ship when they arrive.
