I agree that they are designed that way. I have been running these hubs in my 8T for over a year now and they are still perfect. Once you shim them properly they are indestructable. If the idea of a bunch of shims bothers you, pick up a pair of hexes for a Sportwerks Turmoil or Mayhem for the rear, and you will only need a couple of shims to get the play perfect.

before writing this review, contact the manufacturer.

All the hubs are like theses.
Here is the answer from the trinity support

The hubs were designed to not only adjust the height of the ball stud but the width of the rear end. As you narrow the rear end it will cause the car to have more traction. if you don't want to use the optional width rear end place the 1/2" lose shims inside the rear inner bearing then place the bearing on those. that will make it stock.

I think these hubs are either poorly manufactured or weren't measured properly before manufacture began. The reason i say this is, they introduce a lot of slop..... You'll need to shim in between the hub and hex to remove the slop. They could've included the right length screws for mounting the tie-rod aswell as the stock ones are to long to be used.
They certainly look nice though.
