The open ended ball cup set allows all 22 races with HD turnbuckles the ability to remove and adjust their ball studs and spacers without need to pop off their ball cups. The set includes the proper quantity of ball cups for all 22 vehicles, regardless of configuration.

These ballcups are FINE.
Maybe TLR made a running change (my 22 4.0 was purchased here on the 25th of Jan 2018), who knows, but they stay on just fine.
Nice and easy to thread the turnbuckles into, also, I was dreading the usual 'turnbuckle hands' when building a new kit, I was pleasantly surprised when they spun right in with a lick of black grease.

Yes I to found out that it will not work on the 22 2.0 because the cups are too large for the tie rods

These are garbage, don't waste your money. Stadium Truck requires the angled ball cups, they are longer than the standard ball cups. I have broken 5 of them in 2 racing weekends. I am tempted to sell the truck due to this issue, can't win if you don't finish. TLR ball cup gate is real.

will not work on 22 or 22 2.0 these have 4mm hole .
