The next generation Team Losi Racing 8IGHT-T 4.0 1/8 Scale 4WD Nitro Truggy Kit features suspension and drivetrain refinements inspired by a single purpose – giving racers of all experience levels a nitro truggy that is easy to drive fast, whatever the track conditions. When the sum is greater than the parts, it all adds up to a faster, tougher truggy, that can take on the best the competition has to offer, right out of the box.

NOTE: Engine, tuned pipe, electronics, tires, wheels and painted body shown in photos are for illustrative purposes only and are not included. See needed to complete list below for a full list of items required to complete the model.

In-Depth Features:

  • Revised Suspension Geometry: Updated suspension geometry makes it easier for drivers of all experience levels to turn faster lap times with fewer mistakes, particularly during brutal, hour-long mains.
  • Optimized Drivetrain Layout: The engine has been repositioned to reduce front driveshaft angle so more power makes it to the front wheels.
  • Ball Bearing Throttle and Brake Actuator: This revised actuator makes throttle and brake response feel incredibly smooth and precise. It also features an updated brace that prevents flexing during heavy braking.
  • Large Bearing Spindles and Hubs: Front spindles and rear hubs have been revised to accept a larger 8x16x5mm outer bearing for increased durability.
  • 11mm Narrower Track Width: Shorter suspension arms narrow the track width by 5.5mm on each side. This benefits handling on tight sections of the track by making the vehicle more dynamic and allowing it to transition from one direction to the other more quickly.
  • Large-Footprint Engine Mount: In addition to its updated position, the engine mount has been designed with a larger footprint that substantially reduces chassis flex and fatigue underneath the engine when racing on high-grip tracks.
  • Adjustable Caster Blocks: The adjustable, 15-degree caster blocks make it possible to tune dog bone plunge by changing the height of the spindle.
  • Updated Bleeder Shock Caps and Seals: The updated bleeder shock caps and internal seals allow for easier rebuilds while using an emulsion shock setup. Updated bushings that press into the shock cap further improve durability.
  • Driveshaft and Dog Bone Boots: Molded rubber boots on the universals and center drivetrain dog bones increase U- joint life by holding lubrication in and keeping dirt out.
  • Revised Chassis Side Guards: The chassis side guards have been updated for a better fit.
  • Redesigned Shock Towers: The machined aluminum shock towers have udpated camber link and shock location holes that give racers more tuning options for changing track conditions.

Features:

  • Durable 4mm hard-anodized 7075 T-6 aluminum chassis
  • Improved suspension geometry

Team Losi Racing 8IGHT-T 4.0 1/8 4WD Nitro Truggy Race Kit
Having just finished this kit I thought to give an unbiased review since it's been about 15 years since my last nitro adventure. For the price, which ironically is the same as I spent back then, this is a well engineered, well designed little truggy. I've already split the front diff case mounts however (very soft plastic and noticed the replacements are harder), stripped many screws, though was all my fault. In metric countries, such as Australia, the introduction of SAE caused me grief. This induced some learning the hard way that some brand SAE tools just don't fit well or at all.

I purchased the MIP set and these fit so perfectly I shouldn't have delayed, but I did have to purchase more tools (including ball ends), and more screw kits/taps to accommodate SAE. Just unnecessary compared to the simplicity of metric. I certainly understand this is an American kit and you guys will be familiar with SAE, but outside it's just foreign and I can't tell the difference at a glance like I can with metric, especially after changing the supplied zinc plkatyed screws.

The support I had from TLR for my stupid questions was fantastic. Very well organised and prompt friendly replies. This alone is a strong point to me and seeing I've already got the tools, maybe a matching buggy too as I have confidence TLR will stand by me.

Instructions had several errors however and the bag numbering was vague at best, but all complete, some parts for adjustments and a handy shock tool. For the price this is awesome, though I do have little regrets due to the SAE side as I personally have everything metric to last a life time, which is all useless here. So add the kit price with the tool price will be something to consider, and also the plethora of optional parts compared to other more expensive brands (which have few options, for a reason perhaps?).

If I could I'd give 4.5 stars due to SAE I would, but it leans towards a 5 for the price and service TLR provides.

Team Losi Racing 8IGHT-T 4.0 1/8 4WD Nitro Truggy Race Kit
I just finished this build. The instructions were a bit hard to follow but it came together. I'm running the Novarossi Roma in it and after break in was done (10) tanks I love the way this thing drives and handles. I'll be running it this weekend at Thunder Alley for the first time. GREAT KIT FOR THE PRICE.

Team Losi Racing 8IGHT-T 4.0 1/8 4WD Nitro Truggy Race Kit
This truggy is awesome. The build is a bit weird but it all came together really good. Just got it about 2 weeks ago have not tested it. The part quality is way better than my rc8b3 which most plastic parts stripped very easily with out any effort. I hate the pillow ball that you find in team associated and mugen and other brands. On my rc8b3 after a couple runs it started to veer right and after inspection the pillow ball holder became loose and I had to tighten it and it happened at least twice. With losi it is a nice tie rod with ball cups which I know it is not going anywhere and some of the racers love this truggy. Very strong and sturdy. Great quality parts. One con but I learn to accept is the American size tools but I guess it's because we are in America our tools are American so I guess it makes sense. Team assoc. Is have serious part issues due to metric size. Get a losi forget rc10. Part quality is bad in rc10 brands.
