This is the Team Associated B5M "Team" Mid Motor 2WD Competition Electric Buggy Kit. With 11 IFMAR World Championship titles under their belt, no manufacturer has been as successful in the 1/10 scale 2WD off road class as Team Associated. However, making the best even better is not an easy task. Area 51 designers took on the challenge. Countless hours of engineering and testing were done with a goal to retain the performance qualities of the B4, and push it to the next level.

Use the right tool for the job. Area 51 engineers designed the B5M to suit the needs of racers that race on high speed, high grip tracks where mid motor chassis have an advantage. The suspension and chassis adjustments allow the platform to be tuned for both dirt and multi-surface conditions, while maintaining the forgiving driving style racers have become accustomed to with AE vehicles.

No compromise design. The B5M Team Kit utilizes a dedicated mid motor configuration, but uses nearly 90% of the same parts as the rear motor B5 kit. An aluminum hard anodized chassis, gull wing front suspension arm geometry, Factory Team V2 threaded shocks and Factory Team VTS slipper clutch are included as standard equipment.

Making the best even better. The B5M has all the makings of a champion, and with the proven performance from Team Associated you're assured support no matter where you go. If high speed, high grip tracks are your game, the B5M has what it takes to give you the advantage.

RC10B5M Team Kit Features:

  • Narrowed hard anodized aluminum chassis with centralized mass, mid motor position, metric hardware
  • Chassis fits R.O.A.R. approved 2S saddle packs, 2S short packs and 2S square pack

Team Associated RC10 B5M Team Mid Motor 2WD Competition Electric Buggy Kit
This kit is just fantastic. Right out of the box everything was laid out well and like other reviews have said once you start building the kit you won't want to stop until it's done so make sure you have 3-4 hours carved out. On the track it immediately performed like it was dialed in from testing. It is great outdoor as well. Some have said it's weight distribution isn't suited to dusty style tracks but I've been having great success with hole shots up front and flip outs on the rear.

A couple of things I did on my setup that I believe helped it handle better out of the box were to first use lock-tite on the rear aluminum link nuts (#91416). Initially I had the screws back out on me and the hub just caves in making you think the rear arm broke but just throw a little lock-tite on both left and right sides and you'll be good. I also ran the 1.6 pistons in the front as well as the rear and put 35 weight oil up front to help dampen the jumps at my track a little better. Car is silent and I received many compliments my very first day at the track by how dialed it appeared to run. Get this kit and don't look back!! :)

The B5M is a huge improvement over the B4.2. I was amazed at how easy it was to assemble. They have found a way to remove all the slop from the steering. I also like how they designed the hub so that the pin that holds the dog bones together doesn't slide out. This was an annoying problem I had with the B4. With the B4 I had to put a flat on the pin so that the set screw would hold it in place. The car is also easier to maintain. For instance you don't have to remove the transmission to rebuild the differential. Everything is larger and beefier. Car handles extremely well. When I raced this car for the first time I gained another lap. The car corners, jumps and lands very well. As someone else mentioned I believe this will be the car to beat for a long time. Great job Associated!

Team Associated RC10 B5M Team Mid Motor 2WD Competition Electric Buggy Kit
At long last! just getting back into racing after many years. I had passed up getting an rc10 when I got into racing instead I got a yokomo yz10. I always still wanted one, so fast forward to today. I looked into finally buying one but its impossible to pass up on improvements after doing research. Mid motor designs always been what I drove and mainly because of control n balance. 2wd cars were never my cup of tea because of the extra grip in turns that 4wd offered.

Skipping to the point the build was beautiful and not complicated and made alot of sense. Some parts in the b5m manual did not match the included parts as I ended up with more anodized blue parts than the manual referenced. And there are times a piece is not mentioned in the assembly like the washer for the shock cap screws. However it looks like the kit had been upgraded a bit from the reviews I saw online with the launch kit. No slack in the wheels !

This is the most fun I've had with driving an rc car. Handles so easily and very predictable even at high speed. I run a Novak pulse v2 with team trinity square pack 2s at 6000mah and a reedy 7.0 turn motor. With airtronics Mt-4 transmitter everything fit in the car beautifully and the wiring is pristine. Even though the Esc is large still enough room for the receiver on its side. its amazing that at full throttle I can pull turns and quickly brake into a slide and shoot off the other direction with out flipping or rolling. you can get this car to flip of course but its not as easy as some . Sounds stupid but id even recommend this kit for a novice! just aloy of fun once you understand its driving dynamics. Oh and the jumps ... glorious ;)

Team Associated RC10 B5M Team Mid Motor 2WD Competition Electric Buggy Kit
Love, love, love this kit! I race one, as does my son and several of our racer friends. AE raised the bar with this kit, not only addressing some weaknesses with the now legacy B4.2, but also showing careful design attention and innovation. The car feels infinitely more drivable and was very intuitive to build. Real estate under the hood is more cramped than a B4.2 for wiring and electronics, but that is a physical matter with the chassis now being leaner and meaner and is not a poor reflection upon AE. With an absolute metric ton of aftermarket support and factory upgrades, this platform is very malleable and tunable to just about anyone's desire. One thing I really like about this platform is that it is truly race ready in manufacturer production spec, there is no glaring weak spots that you need to address before it even his the track, like open ball cups or the like. It is a different driving experience, but in a good way. The car is very tough, and the only mechanical failures we have suffered were totally user error and completely within the realm of reasonable. Make sure during the build process that you lubricate the turnbuckles, as they are so tight from the factory that adjusting them makes them roll off the ballstud. But I would rather have them be too tight and adjust them accordingly, than have them loose and sloppy like traditional ballcups and have worse be the only direction to choose. Great car, ton of support and parts, highly recommend for any racer!

Team Associated RC10 B5M Team Mid Motor 2WD Competition Electric Buggy Kit
What a great handling buggy! I didnt think a mid motor car could have so much traction on a loose clay track! I was torn between getting this or the new losi 22. Im glad I got this car! The b5m is more forgiving and easier to drive in my opinion. The car jumps very nice and feels very nimble everywhere on the track. The car is very easy to build with the exception of the ball cups. The ball cups are very poor. They go onto the turnbuckles extremely hard and even harder onto the ball studs; however, they pop of the ball studs easy. When you go to adjust the camber, the ball cups pop right off. That's the one big problem with the car. Other than that, the shocks are difficult to bleed. No matter how you bleed them, the shafts will either have rebound or get sucked back into the shock body about a half inch. Despite this, it doesn't seem to effect the car on the track, because it jumps and handles awesome. The diff is very nice and seems to hold up well so far. I ran the car with saddle packs and with a shorty all the way toward the back and honestly I didn't see much of a difference. I think maybe because my shorty is not much lighter than my saddle packs. Overall, the b5m is great and I would recommend it to anyone. Thanks AE

The build was so easy and only took a few hours and everything went together so smoothly and easily. This car also drives amazingly indoors and outdoors, with all the tuning available its super simple to get this car set up right for your needs. So far this car has been great and im sure it will stay that way:)

Don't expect all parts in kit to complete this car! Six different part numbers are missing! Not including bent dog bone and rusty shock shafts!
