This is the Team Associated B5 "Team" Rear Motor 2WD Competition Electric Buggy Kit. With 11 IFMAR World Championship titles under their belt, no manufacturer has been as successful in the 1/10 scale 2WD off road class as Team Associated. However, making the best even better is not an easy task. Area 51 designers took on the challenge and included a variety of design features that make the B5 more than just an updated version of the B4. Countless hours of engineering and testing were done with a goal to retain the performance qualities of the B4, and push it to the next level.

The RC10B5 is built on a narrow composite tub chassis that keeps the mass centralized and balanced, improving rough track handling and overall performance. Inserts used in the steering and caster blocks allow easy caster and axle adjustments. The rear hubs feature camber link and rear toe in inserts to make rear geometry adjustments easier, combined with larger axle bearings for improved durability. Heavy duty lubricated "captured" type ball cups improve durability, while at the same time reduce friction, and the updated steering system uses horizontal ball studs that allow finer Ackermann adjustments. Improved transmission gears and a more durable differential with 14 carbide balls are included to harness the power of the hottest modified motors. Plus, Factory Team parts like 12mm “Big Bore” threaded shocks and VTS slipper clutch are included as standard equipment! The B5 pushes the Associated 2wd platform to the next level and beyond.

RC10B5 Team Kit Features:
  • Narrowed composite tub chassis with centralized mass, optimized motor position, metric hardware, and fits R.O.A.R.-approved 2S saddle packs, 2S short packs, and 2S square packs
  • Factory Team V2 12mm “Big Bore” threaded aluminum shocks with 3mm shock shafts and updated O-rings for improved smoothness
  • Factory Team VTS (Variable Torque multi-plate Slipper) with three drive surfaces and high-resolution spring
  • Transmission has stronger gears, precision ball bearings, and a 14 carbide ball differential for increased life and torque capacity
  • Front suspension features heavy-duty steering and caster blocks, while the insert system allows for easy caster and trailing axle adjustments
  • Adjustable front suspension mount angle kick-up options of 25˚ and 30˚ are included
  • One-piece front axle/hex adapter and larger front wheel bearing for added durability
  • Heavy-duty lubricated ball cups and optimized ball studs allow for maximum suspension travel while reducing binding and friction
  • Updated full bearing steering system with horizontal ball studs for finer Ackermann adjustments
  • Rear hubs feature larger bearings as well as the quick and easy insert system to adjust camber link position and rear toe-in
  • B5 clear body and wing included

Team Associated RC10 B5 Team Rear Motor 2WD Competition Electric Buggy Kit
This Buggy is simply the best build of any car I have ever put together. Right out the box the B5 Buggy jumps, drive better, and more predictable than any buggy I had in the past. The front end is so tight in turn "no sloppy" like the B4 (don't get me wrong the B4 is GREAT in it own right). The build? once I got started, I couldn't put the damn thing down until I finished 4hrs later.

Great job Team Associated!!.

Now I need a new SC10 build the same way, can't wait, lol

Team Associated RC10 B5 Team Rear Motor 2WD Competition Electric Buggy Kit
I didn't purchase my B5 through A-Main but I am an avid shopper on the site. The B5 is one of the best builds I have had the pleasure of...well building. All of the parts are well cut and there is no flashing on any of the molded pieces. The only exception is the shock pieces which still come as a tree. You will need a hobby knife to ensure the flashing is removed once you pull them off. With that said it is possible to remove the pieces and get 0 flashing, but its nice to make sure. The car is super tough. Don't let the fact that spares are scarce deter you from purchasing. After some pretty gnarly 17.5 racing and a few scary moments the buggy came out unscathed. The B4.2 would have definately been subjected to the dreaded DNF on the heat sheet. This buggy can handle the bump and bruises of racing. The arms are beefy and the front end is stout. Once you assemble the buggy everything is going to be tight. Running the buggy on the track for a while, it begins to break in and perform like a winner. The shocks are butter smooth and soak up the big jumps and rough sections. It just feels faster and more planted going around the circuit. Maintenance is a breeze, and previous AE drivers will be happy to hear that AE ditched those ohh so tiny .050 screws. 17.5 racers will notice the weight is about the wame as the B4.2. The LW topshaft is available and Pucks is available for preorder. So yes, you can gave all of your goodies like you had in your B4.2. I did opt for the alum steering pieces and noticed steering holding power consistant through and through. The battery compartment will house ESC, switch, and RX without needing the RX tray. There is enough room on the sides to wedge your MyLaps Xponder on its side secured with velcro. Take note when building the steering rack. Ensure that all pieces are oriented the correct way. The bearings come prepacked with grease and will need to be cleaned with a car cleaner aerosol to get that free spinning effect that we all crave. However they are useable. AE has done it again with a quality product. The buggy is so good that I can't imagine what the Factory Team edition will have. Outstanding

Awesome buggy very good performance
The bad side is very minimal motor protection
If you cartwheel or crash and land bad the protruding motor will likely suffer damage like mine did.
I have replace several bent motor case screws now from minor bingles which is sad because I like this buggy a lot.

Got my B5 in today. Woke up before work to go work out but instead i found myself building my B5. With the 2 hours i had before i had to leave for work i got the entire car built except for putting in my electronics. This kit was a breeze and fun to build. I cant wait to drive it this weekend!
