Update: I've down graded my review of this remote. Do not buy. Recent firmware update has locked my remote. Will not boot raceware up on Android system and of course this happened when I'm out with a couple trucks in the mountains. Have done everything, customer service is a joke through horizon. When I purchased this it was a major impulse buy. And at first I was upset with myself for buying it.
However... Upon using the radio I have actually really come to like it.
At first I was upset by how cumbersome the android OS felt, but once I was bound to my receivers I was good to go.
The range of the physical alterations and adjustments you can do to this radio are awesome. It is truly a one size just about fits all, with an adjustable trigger POSITION, not just tension. You can adjust the wheel tension as well, but you can also adjust the wheel in a variety of locations.
The Raceware software for the programming of the radio is fantastic. If you can imagine it, you could probably do it with this radio.
I will setup a full telemetry rig on my MP9 and see how that part works, and will post an update in the future.
I really like my DX6R and would recommend it to others.
I just wish they made aluminum triggers as an option.
I waited a few years to get this radio, I really wanted six ground channels especially since on some vehicle AVC takes two channels away. I followed a very popular thread on it for the last year or so and what I was reading was much better, most if not all of the growing pain issues have been worked through, many more featured added and less threads about problems led me to finally purchase it a few weeks ago, actually my wife bought it for me! After playing with it for a few days and now having used it with 2 vehicles (one new, one old) for a few weeks I came say that this is a great radio, updates are super easy (firmware & raceware have been combined into one update now right from google play, simple... Setting up models is a breeze, most RX's are listed in the pull down libraries, AVC is now much easier to setup, I am actually a big fan of AVC as well, on my desert race trucks, obviously none of my track cars or truck use it , but a big fan for scale bashing etc... I really like being able to attach a photo to each model, helps with making sure I am using the correct combo, I really like the mapping screens its nice to see all trim buttons, light switches, and knob assignment on one screen instead of having to scroll through menu items to figure out if I already used a switch! Battery life has been decent so far, maybe down the road they will update power options to include Lipo?? But as it is its still good for a whole day, not to mention since its LiIon you can just pop it back on its charger base and not have to worry about killing the battery too badly. Very glad that I purchased the radio also glad I waited a few years as I surely would have become frustrated with the early on problems.
After spending $500 on a new radio it came doa. I had it on the charger all night as it needs to charge for 15 to 20 hours before you can use it. Then it would not power on. I emailed spektrum about it and they got back to me 2 days later and asked me to charge it again. At that point i pulled out my voltage meter and tested the battery. 4v everything is fine with the battery. Now im waiting for them to get back to me with little faith. Poor quality control on there end.
I have had Spektrum transmitters since the DX3R. Before that, I had the Futaba FM with 8xAA batteries. I have heard a lot of negativity towards the brand but I have always had great luck with their equipment. This radio is no exception. It has great feel, light and TONS of features. Making on the fly adjustments is easy, making it possible to get the most out of your vehicles. Highly recommend!!!
After researching Spektrum batteries, radios, receivers and telemetry relate functions and with the help of amain technical staff, I was convinced I wanted to convert from Futaba radio systems to Spektrum. Since Spektrum announced their smart technology I personally believe they are now positioned well ahead of other RC radio system and battery manufacturers with a fully integrated system.
Combined with their smart battery technology and radio systems like the DX6R-6 they have taken the work (and worry) out of RC battery maintenance, charging, storage and radio related functions allowing more time to have fun with RC vehicles. Having used nothing but Futaba systems in the past, I decided to over time convert my vehicles to the Spektrum smart system utilizing the DX6R-6.
After receiving my DX6R-6 and completing the charging process I was ready to program a few of my vehicles into the system. I have eight 1/10 scale, one 1/8 scale Viper Venom 977e and recently purchased an Arrma Limitless 1/7 scale monster. I have setup three of the vehicles on the DX6R-6 with the simpler 1/10 taking about 5 minutes or less to complete. Prior to vehicle programming, I did however replace Futaba receivers and esc’s with Spektrum models on the 1/8 and 1/7 vehicles.
The DX6R allows for basic and advances radio communication setup and vehicle tuning. In addition, because the 1/8 and 1/7 scale cars are capable of higher speeds, I wanted to use the various telemetry functions of the DX6R-6 which is also very easy to setup and use. Having some background with real time telemetry functions I really like the functions the DX6R-6 provides and it’s fun to use. The sr2010 and sr6000t recievers are also easy to setup and use with the DX6R-6 system.
Totally dope radio. A bit too much if you ask me, but is comfortable in hand, charging base is a plus. Very happy with this purchase. you will never put the radio down.....
touch screen just stop after about 3 use not a full hour
To be honest with you I really have not played around with the receiver yet I did turn it on and set my cars up that part yes is sweet I will hopefully be getting into the telemetry’s and other portions of this receiver soon
