Spektrum RC DX5 Pro 2021 5-Channel DSMR Surface Radio (Transmitter Only)

Fantastic transmitter loads of settings and adjustments I had a dx5r from when they came out but I wore it out so I had to grab this one I've used a couple of transmitters in the past and the dx5 pro and dx5r are by far my favorite it feels good in the hand the wheel position is adjustable it's an all around awesome transmitter spektrum did a really good job with the radio

Disappointing! It feels cheap in your hand! I am going to upgrade to a Sanwa M17!

Edit 7/9/23: dont waste your money. The transmitter has a little wire that will constantly come loose. After 3 attempts its just a constant issue.
Note: got a bad transmitter from factory: Amain customer service took care of the issue quickly and hassle-free as always!

I have owned spektrum radios and servos over the years and sure do like them! I own a sanwa m17 radio as well and I like it for the Rc no prep racing because of its features it offers for the different stages of power you can setup and just pull the trigger wide open throttle but when it comes to racing short course with my buggy and truggy the dx5 pro does exactly what I need it for without all the extra features and it still offers throttle expo and steering expo in a graph form so you can see how fast the steering and throttle ramps as you make the adjustments! And not to mention the color backlit screen it has. Only reason for 4 stars is do to it would be nice if spektrum offered a port like sanwa does to plug into the radio to charge the battery without removing the battery lid and unplugging the lithium ion battery. Note ( lithium ion battery is separate) does not come with the radio but does use 4 AA batteries.

Had a drx4s before and this is a nice step up with adjustments too.

I do not understand why the battery door is locked with screws, this is very inconvenient because I use batteries and change them every day! When I opened the battery door for the first time, I lost all the screws, I will never buy a Spectrum Pro version again ...

Cheap plastic feel with self tapping screws. The battery cover is held on by two self tapping screws making it difficult to change the batteries.

The transmitter works well and smart telemetry works.

The battery setup is terrible.the battery cover is screwed down with two hex bolts and there is no latch.

I would be fine with this if the batteries were rechargeable lipo, but they are instead 4 AA. They go dead quickly and you need tools to change them.

There is a 2S lipo pack available and the transmitter can be switched to support lipo batteries in the display settings. The thing is there is no charge port so you have to unscrew the battery cover and unplug the pack and plug it into an adapter then plug the adapter into your charger.

The DX6r transmitter has a charging dock and a lipo battery. My cordless phone from the 2000s had a better battery system than this transmitter and it would be 20 years old now. Any cell phone i have ever used has a better battery system than this transmitter. I am not sure why they made it so substandard.
