The SchuurSpeed 17.5T Xtreme SPEC V4 Short Stack Brushless Motor was designed and engineered in Southern California to be compliant with EFRA, IFMAR and ROAR specifications.

GEARING NOTE: SchuurSpeed V4 SPEC motors have all been inspected and adjusted for initial race performance. In other words, the timing has been initially set and the motors are ready to be installed and raced. (DO NOT OVER GEAR THE MOTOR)

These motors produce very high RPM performance and must be geared appropriately. Below are suggested gearing for several vehicles on typical clay track. Many carpet tracks will require dropping yet another pinion OR increasing the spur gear.

17.5T:

  • TLR 22 4 2WD Buggy: 25/75

13.5T:

  • Yokomo / AE 4WD Buggy: 23/81

Well I will be selling all my other motors to buy more of this one. As it was hands down faster than any of the other stock motors that I have (R1's and Fantom's). Thanks Ron for the new motor.

SchuurSpeed Xtreme SPEC V4 Short Stack Brushless Motor (17.5T)
I'm new to racing, and I am very impressed with this motor's performance. I didn't mess with the timing and used the recommended gearing, and my B6.1D is able to keep up with all the other racers, and even gain on them down the straightaway. I'm using a Schelle Slipper eliminator and no cooling fan, and my temps in the first 5-10 minutes (like a typical race) are in the 130-140 degrees Fahrenheit range, and after 20-25 minutes of continuous practice laps when my battery finally needs a charge, I measured about 150-160+. This is when ambient temps are in the 80s-90s. I personally don't think I'll need a fan, especially for normal short races. I might give another opinion after a few months of use, but so far it's excellent.

EDIT: After a few months of practicing and racing, I'm still very pleased. After gaining confidence in my skills, I have added a fan, increased pinion size, and played with the motor timing. Just those changes alone bumped up my fastest laps by almost a second, so i'll be competing with the higher classes. Running a fan seems to really unlock the full potential with lower temps than before (<100F, but lower ambient temps as we approach December). Motor is in great condition, and I expect to have a fun time for months to come.

Popped this onto the motor analyser and it pleasantly surprised me with very strong kv and max rpm numbers. For the price definitely worth a look. Outperforms far more expensive motors such as the Fantom v3.
