Schumacher Racing Peripheral Damping Pistons are only compatible with the Schumacher Peripheral Damping Sleeves. Developed for touring cars to help minimize the fluctuations in tire contact patch caused by small bumps in the track surface, this system allows the tire to stay in contact with the surface, providing more grip and improved lap times.
The damping characteristic of the shock changes as the piston moves up and down within the shock body. The damping is softest when the piston is at the bottom of the shock, where the peripheral volume is greatest. Conversely, the damping is hardest when the piston is at the top of the body, and the sleeve has the smallest opening. This allows the damping characteristic to progressively increase as the chassis rolls, compared to a standard kit damper assembly which offers linear damping throughout the damping stroke.
Schumacher recommends you use the same shock oil as you would with your standard setup, and adjust as needed. Package includes two pistons, two packs are required for a complete conversion. Additionally, two packs of Schumacher Peripheral Damping Sleeves (SCHU4802) are required (not included).
