Schumacher Cougar Laydown 2WD 1/10th Off-Road Competition Buggy Kit
I've been running the b6.1 and TLR 5.0, so I will compare this to those. First off, the build is fantastic and this has a very comprehensive and intuitive build manual complete with detailed explanations of how every adjustment affects the handling of this car, and there are a ton of adjustments. This car is very different from the associated and TLR platforms, but the most noticable difference is in its steering. This has so much steering and front end bite, box stock, that I had to tune steering out. It drives and handles like a European car would, it's a BMW compared to a Ford in its driving mannerisms. For my first race out, I qualified 7th. With my Associated I was a better driver, but only because that's what I was used to. With the way this car reacts to driver input, there is no doubt in my mind that with a bit of wheel time and track tuning, I will be turning considerably faster lap times. One thing to note is that this car comes with an 80t spur which is great for mod, but if you're racing 17.5 spec like I am you'll want to order the 71t at the same time to keep those ratios down. Also, the green rear springs are too soft for high grip carpet, i'd recommend the black. I would recommend this car to anybody. It's fast, it handles like it's on rails, is infinitely tunable, looks sweet, builds well, and best of all, is different from the other cars on the track. It will take some getting used to, but once you do, it will be the fastest thing on carpet

Schumacher Cougar Laydown 2WD 1/10th Off-Road Competition Buggy Kit
Love it! Build process is simple, kit instructions excellent and I love the details on adjustments. Quality of parts on par or even slightly better than my XRay. Infinite settings adjustments. Handling exceptional. This is an amazing buggy. About the only thing I don’t like is as these increase in popularity, which seems to be happening given the quality of the buggy, add on parts or spares are eternally out of stock. I’ve raced TLR, AE, and XRay, and this platform is on par with XRay, and seems far superior to my other mfg buggy’s.

Schumacher Cougar Laydown 2WD 1/10th Off-Road Competition Buggy Kit
Just finished the build, so everything is fresh in my mind. I have not driven the buggy yet, so I wont comment on how it behaves on the track. The box arrived from Amain, and looked like it had been though a war zone, also the seal was broken, so I was a little concerned about missing parts. Nothing was missing thank god!
Build was amazing, each step has its own little bag, and I mean EVERY step. There was a step that was literally just two screws, and they were in a separate bag labeled with the step number. The manual is 99.9 percent clear on how everything goes together. There were maybe one or two spots where I had to scratch my head for a minute. I have built AE, Tekno, Yokomo, Xray, and HB, And have been racing for 6 years. This Kit is top notch, fit and finish are great. Tolerances are insanely tight (in a good way) and attention to detail is remarkable.
There are things about this car that just make sense like that esc tray, motor mounting, and wire management. I am looking forward to hitting the turf with this next week.

Schumacher Cougar Laydown 2WD 1/10th Off-Road Competition Buggy Kit
This is a wonderful car with tremendous CAD designed instructions that the common man can understand. For example, with XRAY a person needs a degree in technical writing and engineering in order to understand the instructions. One complaint I have with Schumacher thus far is the 80T spur gear. Would someone please explain to me why I can't get something like a 72T spur in the kit? Why would Schumacher expect I'm going to run a 5.5 turn motor? Have they considered that not everyone on the planet runs modified racing? Why must I buy a $44 direct drive spur kit in order to get a correct gear ratio? Should I just buy the new stock spec kit instead?
