I used Savox years ago and swayed away from them because I did not like the orange aluminum casing. When the black edition came out I was looking forward to using them again, but the awful wire sheathing prevented me from buying them. Fast forward a year or so and I saw a 1258 Black edition in somebodies car at the track. And guess what? No more wire sheathing!!! So I promptly ordered one up that night. It seems all the Black edition Savox servo's have ditched the sheathing and the wire is black and stealthy just like the servo. A great performing and reliable servo at a fair price. This will be the only servo I use from now on.

The 1258 has been my go to servo for a few years now, so this one looks cool with the fancy (and shorter) plug..... But... The output grommet is so thick for the plug it was rubbing the jackshaft in my 22-4, and it was really tight in a 22 as well, so I cut the grommet down and took off the black sleeve, you can't see it anyway in a 22-4. So just keep that in mind if you're putting this in a tight space.

Fast, accurate and strong. Absolutely zero freeplay. And I like the black "stealth" look.
One word of caution: it is very demanding on the BEC and it will most likely require a capacitor ("glitch buster") to be plugged into your receiver to prevent brown outs. It was required for me; I am using a HobbyWing 1080 ESC.

Savox SC-1258TG Black Edition Standard Digital "High Speed" Titanium Gear Servo
Great servo for the money. Same servo Spencer Rivkin and Ryan Cavalieri use so no reason why it wouldn't be good enough for my club racing. It's quick and always returns to center. Don't waste your money on more expensive servos. Haven't experienced any "brown out" issues or glitching.
- Update, after 4 race days and no hard impacts that would have damaged this servo while no power is turned on and I turn the wheels left/right by hand there is a gritty grinding feeling coming out of the servo. I took it apart and there are no bad gears or visible damage so I can't really fix anything. I posted on the 22 Empire FB page and it looks like others have had this issue. The servo still works when powered on but I don't have high hopes this thing will last long. I know it's on the cheaper end of servos but still it should last more than 4 race days. I'd spend some extra cash and get a protek servo. That's what I'll be doing once this thing craps out.

Great Servo, I have several of them; now a third. my only complaint is they do not come with the shielded wire as seen in the picture. I guess they found them to bulky and went back to the normal 3 wire.

Great servo for the money I’ve had a lot of different servos and I dropped this in my SCTE 3.0 and I’m inpressed super quick and strong and the black finish looks slick couldn’t be happier will be running more savox products In the future. Running a Orion 10.1 pro and Sanwa systems no glitch or browning out for me
