The REDS 721 Pista 7-Port .21 Competition On-Road Nitro Engine is an extremely powerful and highly reliable engine. This engine features updated technology and materials allowing for more power and better fuel efficiency when compared to standard on-road engines. A DLC coated crankshaft and backplate are used to extend the life of the crankshaft and even the connecting rod.
REDS has engineered this engine with a unique high stiffness crankcase that is produced through pressure die casting. Prior REDS engines were only gravity cast. The carburetor (carb) received the same treatment as the crankcase and is now pressure cast. Material for the carb has changed from plastic to aluminum to allow for improved idle and tuning. The carb was then moved to a 30° angle allowing for better fluid dynamics and increase engine power. REDS has updated their sleeve design for more torque and better output. The exhaust port design paired with the updated inlet ports helps increase the power through the whole RPM range. These features combine to make an engine that is optimized in both power and fuel economy.
