Redcat Rampage XB 1/5 Scale 4wd Buggy
UPDATE to my previous review:

After running four tanks and having my fair share of fun with it after break-in, I absolutely love this vehicle. Fast, powerful, and loud. I still haven't had much opportunity to get a good tune on it and am currently still running a little rich until I've put another good tank through it for a full break-in. If there's any cons I can think of, it's the lack of a closed transmission/differential. There are gaps in the chassis, under the engine where dirt and small rocks could possibly get in and cause problems, but fortunately, running with the cover on can counter this. Besides that, my only qualm would be that the color the body came in was the blue color of the other XB on this site, rather than the green. That being said, expect a random color scheme. All in all, I'd give it a five, were it not for the small issue with the receiver battery as stated in my earlier review. Easy to tune, rips through dirt and tears away asphalt and takes whatever you throw at it, I can attest to the car's durability, having just finished an around-town run through every terrain this place has to offer.

Small note on breaking-in out of the box: My model had a very erratic idle when I first started it up that was akin to an air leak. Throttle would go up, down, idle, and for the most part fluctuate randomly and occasionally dip low enough to die on me so I would have to get up and restart it. This problem continued through my third tank of break-in, until I realized that the choke lever was actually not locked in to the fully OPEN position, and was being thrown up and down from the vibrations of the engine. That being said, don't make my mistake and make countless calls to customer support about a damaged vehicle when it can very well be your choke, ha.

Good luck, and happy bashing.

Very good vehicle. You can't beat the price, and fun factor. I bought one, and love it. Had a small issue, but emailed Redcat for the fix. Redcat emailed me back with a tracking number for a replacement part, and they didn't want the old part back. They were way easier to deal with than Traxxas, or Axial because I just fired off an email. You get solid metal every where you need it. More metal on this than the $1,500 HPI. Hpi has more aftermarket support, but how good is an expensive part going to do on a 28 pound + 1/5th scale doing 40 mph hitting a wall? My cat is mostly stock, and a small hint is that a fair amount of HPI 1/5th scale parts do work on this rig. I know of a few HPI owners who converted to Redcat. Hope this helps!

Redcat Rampage XB 1/5 Scale 4wd Buggy
I didn't buy mine from here, I bought it from Amazon and it came with a broken R/Front outdrive (diff cup). That wasn't a big issue though because they took care of me. It's an entry level 1/5 that needs TLC from the start. Huck the stock gear mount right away, it's poorly designed, buy the aluminum one and get the bigger bearings. Sleeve your diff cups (outdrives) with 3/4" copper (perfect fit). You'll need to tear apart the diffs for that, but it's worth it because the diff cups are made of glass. Even if you do nothing else, you'll want to replace the diff oil. Buy spares of anything front end, especially upper arms. It's a fun car after you tweak it a bit, but you're looking at extra money right off the bat. I'm not saying don't buy it, but it's not a $1600 Losi 5ive, so don't expect it to be.
