This is a pack of two optional ProTek R/C Titanium Rear Axles, intended for use with the Team Associated B5 and B5M 1/10 Scale 2WD Buggies. These are a replacement for Team Associated  HD Axle (ASC71019).

These titanium axles are CNC machined to near-exact tolerances from high-quality 6AL-4V (Grade 5) titanium alloy material and polished to a brilliant finish.

Weighing only 3.5 grams per axle, compared to 6.5 grams per steel axle, these titanium axles drop a combined 6 grams of rotating mass from the drive line. For the stock racer, these axles help decrease motor fatigue, boost efficiency and reduce overall weight.

Why Titanium?
Titanium is strong, dense and super lightweight. In fact, Titanium has one of the highest strength-to-density ratios of all the metal compounds, making it the best advantage for dropping weight without sacrificing strength or durability.

6AL-4V Grade 5

6AL-4V, or more commonly known as Grade 5, is a Titanium alloy mixture composed of 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium. It is significantly stronger than pure titanium but more expensive to manufacture. Grade 5 is the most widely used titanium alloy for its excellent combination of low weight, high strength and corrosion resistance.

Features:

  • CNC Machined Construction
  • High-Quality 6AL-4V Titanium Alloy
  • Reduced Rotating Mass
  • Steel Rear Axle Weight: 6.5g
  • Titanium Rear Axle Weight: 3.5g
Notes:
  1. The axles will accept the +4mm rear pivot width with the ASC91609 Clamping Hex.
  2. The axles will also accept the MIP Puck system.
  3. These axles are equivalent to the ASC71019 HD axle used on the B5, B5M and B6.
  4. These axles are not compatible with AE 67mm Setup (that setup uses the V2 ASC91762 Axles - not ASC71019)

Had to sand them down to get them to fit. Bent one on my 2nd practice run. The high price point does not reflect the quality.

Not sure why there were so many bad reviews previously, I think these axles are fine. I run JC rear hexes, not sure if that gives any extra reinforcement. I've got maybe 60-80 runs on them without issue. I've had my share of hard tumbles, but generally, I'm a clean driver and not tagging the boards all the time. I'm not sure how hard you have to hit stuff to bend these, but it must be pretty violent.

update 2/17/2015 - 120-140 runs now and still fine.

I have run these axles for about 4 months and have not had any issues with them. They fit perfectly, no sanding needed. I have had over 10 extremely hard crashes and they are perfect, straight as an arrow. In my opinion they are at least as strong as the stock axles, just a whole lot lighter. I recommend these to everyone.

wasn't happy with these at all. poor fit and finish. had to sand and file the area with the pin holes to get them to slide into the bearings. made from extremely low quality titanium. were bent really bad after only 2 qualifiers. maybe I just got a bad set.

Couldn't get these to fit into the bearings. Threw in the garbage. Really bad product.

Running in my B6 for a couple months now. No issues with fitment, although perhaps not quite as tight of tolenrance as stock parts. Good part IMO.

Solid. Have been beating these in my SC5M for awhile now. No issues. Outstanding compliment to the rest of my lightened drive train. With these and MIP 17.5 diff and aluminium outdrives and eco top shaft, slipper eliminator as well as cut gears I took over 48 grams of weight from my drive train. My heavy old short course truck hangs with most buggys now.

These axles are definitely cool. With that said, like many of the other reviewers, I had to do a very light sanding/polish in order to make them fit inside the bearings. If that type of minor fitting doesn't bother you, these are a great upgrade

Ok design fit after lite sanding,if they counter sunk holes would be a much better product.I counter sunk holes after sanding to keep from any cracking around holes. If you just lightly sink holes with larger drill bit sanding will be minimal.

Just installed these. Like the other reviewer I had to sand the area near the pin holes so the bearing would slide over. They feel very light and look good.

I haven't run them yet, so I'll update my review then

Update: I have about 5-6 packs on them during some long practice sessions and they have held up perfectly through typical crashes and pipe bumping. Long term is a wait and see, but early durability seems good.
